Abstract:
A process for preparing fluorochemical monoisocyanates comprises reacting at least one fluorochemical alcohol represented by the formula CnF2n+1SO2NCH3(CH2)mOH, wherein n=2 to 5, and m=2 to 4, with 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) in a solvent in which the resulting fluorochemical monoisocyanate is not soluble; wherein the molar ratio of fluorochemical alcohol:MDI is from about 1:1 to about 1:2.5.

Abstract:
A method is provided for making a hydrophobic carbon fiber construction, such as a fuel cell gas diffusion layer, by electrophoretic deposition of a highly fluorinated polymer, which may be followed by sintering of the fluoropolymer. A hydrophobic carbon fiber construction is provided, such as a fuel cell gas diffusion layer, which is coated with a monolayer of particles of a highly fluorinated polymer, which may be sintered.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a 24 hour extended release dosage formulation and unit dosage form thereof of venlafaxine hydrochloride, an antidepressant, which provides better control of blood plasma levels than conventional tablet formulations which must be administered two or more times a day and further provides a lower incidence of nausea and vomiting than the conventional tablets. More particularly, the invention comprises an extended release formulation of venlafaxine hydrochloride comprising a therapeutically effective amount of venlafaxine hydrochloride in spheroids comprised of venlafaxine hydrochloride, microcrystalline cellulose and, optionally, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose coated with a mixture of ethyl cellulose and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose.

A method of video processing may include analyzing input video information to determine if a current video frame is directed to a same view as a previous video frame; determining whether a new view is present; and indicating a need to use video processing information pertaining to the new view if a new view is determined to be present.
Abstract:
A carpet which comprises: a) a pile comprising a plurality of face yarns; b) a primary backing having two major surfaces, i.e., a face surface and a back surface, the face yarns being secured to the primary backing and extending from the face, surface thereof; and c) an impermeable hydrophobic barrier bonded to the primary backing. Substantially the entire surface of the portion of the face yarn which is not encased within at least one of the barrier or the backing is hydrophobic.
Abstract:
A vehicle occupant protection apparatus (10) includes an inflatable occupant protection device (12) and a support member (40) having a vent opening (50) through which inflation fluid may flow. The apparatus (10) also includes a mechanism (58) for controlling a flow of inflation fluid through the vent opening (50). Inflation fluid pressure within the inflatable occupant protection device (12) tends to move the mechanism (58) for increasing a flow of inflation fluid through the vent opening (50). The mechanism (58) is responsive to inflation of the inflatable occupant protection device (12) beyond a predetermined distance for restricting the flow of inflation fluid through the vent opening (50). The apparatus (10) further includes a locking member (96) for blocking the mechanism (58) from increasing the flow of inflation fluid through the vent opening (50) after the inflatable occupant protection device (12) has inflated beyond the predetermined distance.
Abstract:
A firearm laser training system of the present invention includes a target having a plurality of zones, a laser transmitter assembly for projecting a laser beam, a sensing device and a processor. The sensing device scans the target to produce target images to detect laser beam or simulated projectile impact locations. The processor receives impact location information from the sensing device and processes the received information to evaluate user performance and to display evaluation information and an image of the target including indicia corresponding to the detected impact locations.
Abstract:
An aluminum object is manufactured by a process including chromate conversion coating of the aluminum object; sequentially applying a primer coat to the outer surface and thereafter applying a dielectric substrate basecoat; vacuum metallizing a corrosion prone metal, namely indium, on the dielectric substrate basecoat to form "islands" of the indium that are top coated with a clear resinous layer to encapsulate and insulate the islands, one from another. The indium islands are less than one thousand angstroms thick and have an average diameter of less than three thousand angstroms. The island structure is etched following the growth of the metal as it is deposited between the nucleation stage and the stage of channelization of formation of an electrically conductive film. The etchant is selected to clear channels between island structures to improve adhesion of a dielectric resinous top coat to the dielectric substrate by order of magnitude to adhesion to the islands.
