Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sunshade which provides usable electrical power by the synergistic combination of photovoltaic and thermo-electric generation. Photovoltaic [PV] cells suffer efficiency drop as their operating temperature increases especially under high insolation levels; to overcome this, a cooling system is beneficial. This invention uses air-cooling, either by forced or natural flow, powered by a heat powered thermoelectric fan to cool the surface of the PV modules, thus increasing it' s operational efficiency. The Heat powered thermoelectric fan also serves the dual function of climate control of the air under the canopy to condition the air.

The shade device (20) may further include sprayer switch (71) and a switch actuator (73) that allow the user to control the amount of liquid (53) sprayed by the sprayer (34, 42). In certain embodiments, the shade device (20) may include a container (54) for the user to store food or beverage. The container (54) may be cooled by the liquid (53) from the same liquid source (54) where the sprayer (34, 42) obtains the liquid (53) to spray.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device such as a parasol or sunshade, provided with a solar energy ventilation system. According to the invention, the post (1) of the device is pierced with ports wherein are housed drive elements (7). Furthermore, the device has, on the one hand, a motor whose drive shaft (10) extends at least partially inside the post (1) and is appropriate to drive rotationally the drive elements (7) and, on the other hand, a fan propeller comprising a rotating ring (14) which carries blades (22) and which is arranged about the post (1) so that the ring is rotated by means of the drive elements (7). Finally, the motor, the drive shaft (10), the drive elements (7) and the rotating ring (14) are coupled so as to form a transmission chain which is disengageable by a given force opposed to the rotation of the propeller.
Abstract:
Cooling units are provided. The cooling units include a base having a housing with control components and a cooling tower attached to the base having an inner flow path and an exterior surface. An air distribution system is attached to the cooling tower and includes an air distribution chamber defined between first and second enclosures, a cool air dispenser configured in the first enclosure, a warm air dispenser configured in the first enclosure at a location different from the cool air dispenser, and a cover disposed on an exterior surface of the second enclosure. The control components are configured to convey air through the base, the cooling tower, and the air distribution system to dispense air through the cool air dispenser and the warm air dispenser and a plurality of ducts connect the cooling tower to at least one of the cool air dispenser and the warm air dispenser.
Abstract:
An outdoor parasol (100) is disclosed. The parasol (100) comprises a central column (102), an actuation mechanism (116) placed inside the central column (102), a supporting shaft (120) attached to the top of the central column (102), radially disposed ribs (104), canopy (110) mounted on the ribs (104), struts (106) for connecting the ribs (104) to the top of the central column (102), sub-struts (112) connecting the ribs (104) to the supporting shaft (120); wherein, when expanded an inner tube slidably ensconced in an outer tube of the actuation mechanism (116) moves up to associate with the supporting shaft (120) splaying the sub-struts (112) thereby opening the struts (106) to expand the ribs (104) defining a bird-flight structure, and when collapsed the inner tube moves down to disassociate with the supporting shaft (120) contracting the sub-struts (112).
Abstract:
Abstract:
An outdoor apparatus, such as a table or tower with integrated air conditioning for providing thermally conditioned air to users. The apparatus disperses conditioned air to people in the vicinity, more specifically directing vents to both the people's head region and torso region. A fan within the pedestal has a fan inlet communicative with the ambient air inlet for drawing ambient air into the pedestal for thermal conditioning and also has a fan outlet communicative with the conditioned air outlets for supplying conditioned air to users. A heat exchanger is interposed between the ambient air inlet and the fan inlet, and a working fluid supply is fluidly communicative with the heat exchanger for thermally conditioning the ambient air. The tabletop embodiment enhances the cooling by utilizing the table to entrapping the conditioned air about the person's torso.
