The present invention relates to a sheet of absorbent paper including at least first (10) and second (20) embossed plies of cellulose wadding, each one of the plies having a grammage of 10 to 40 g/m 2 including projections on the inward-facing surface of the sheet which correspond to cavities on the outer surface, with elongate first projections (11) on the first ply, elongate first projections (21) on the second ply, at least one part of the first projections (11) of the first ply being in contact with at least one part of the first projections (21) of the second ply. The sheet is characterised in that the first ply and the second ply (10, 20) each include frustoconical second projections (12; 22), at least one part of the first projections (11; 21) at least partially adjoining the second projections (12; 22), the first projections of said first ply being aligned in a first direction and the first projections of said second ply being aligned in a second direction, the two directions forming a non-zero alpha angle therebetween, at least one part of the second projections (12; 22) forming alignments inserted between two alignments of the first projections (11; 21). The sheet can be used for the production of paper for household or sanitary use.

An embossing system (20) is provided for embossing and perforating a web having a first embossing roll (22) having embossing elements (34) and a second embossing roll (22) having embossing elements (34), wherein at least a portion of the embossing elements of the first and second embossing rolls are substantially oriented in the cross-machine direction. The embossing roll may be crowned, may have alignment means, and may be provided with precision gearing.

Es wird ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer Prägewalze durch Molettieren beschrieben, wobei auf einer Molette ein die Gravur der Prägewalze ausbildendes, aus einer Vielzahl von aus Reliefpunkten gebildeten identischen Einzelreliefen bestehendes Relief erstellt wird. Die Reliefpunkte eines jeden Einzelreliefs sind relativ zu den zugehörigen und in Ablaufrichtung der Molette folgenden Reliefpunkten des sich hieran anschließenden Einzelreliefs in Axialrichtung der Molette gesehen versetzt angeordnet und jeder Reliefpunkt weist eine radial in einer vorgegebenen Höhe über den Molettenmantel angeordnete und parallel zur Molettenachse verlaufende Relieffläche und eine sich bis zum Molettenmantel erstreckende Reliefmantelfläche auf, wobei für jedes Einzelrelief zur Erzeugung einer großformatigen Einzelgravur auf der Prägewalze eine Fläche zwischen 225 mm 2 und 25.000 mm 2 ausgewählt wird. Die Molette wird zum Gravieren der Walze achsparallel auf den Mantel der Prägewalze aufgesetzt und hierauf ablaufen gelassen, so daß durch eine mechanische Verformung die Gravur der Prägewalze erzeugt wird. Ferner wird eine gravierte Prägewalze beschrieben.

Nonwoven sheet materials, and adhesive articles formed therefrom are provided that are made with fibers, preferably tensilized nonfracturable staple fibers, and binder fibers, and formed from a combination of interbonding, smooth roll calendering, and pattern embossing techniques. These sheet materials are especially useful as tape backings that are finger tearable in the cross web and the down web directions and also possess a number of other desirable properties, including acceptable tensile strength and enhanced overtaping, for example. A nonwoven sheet material, and adhesive article including the same, can include an embossed pattern having a variety of discontinuous configurations to enhance tearing properties in both the down web and cross web directions.

The web has a plurality of ridges extending in its machine direction occuring at a frequency, F , across the web and the method includes providing the web to an embossing station (20) where the web is embossed between a first and second embossing roll (22), each of which rolls may be provided with a plurality of embossing elements (34) configured to define a plurality of embossing nips. At least a portion of the embossing nips are substantially oriented in a cross-machine direction with respect to the web and have a cross direction length, L . This application concerns the field of tissue manufacture, and in particular concerns a roll of tissue exhibiting puffiness and bulk having a plurality of bosses formed therein comprising: an array of stitchlike bosses forming a lattice of polygonal cells; each said polygonal cell being centrally filled with a plurality of bosses forming one of a multiplicity of signature emboss patterns comprising at least a first signature emboss pattern and a second signature emboss pattern, said first signature emboss pattern being non-nesting with said second signature emboss pattern, said bosses being arrayed such that one of said first signature emboss patterns nests with another of said first signature emboss patterns at no more than three locations within said roll and one of said second signature emboss patterns nests with another of said second signature emboss patterns at no more than three locations within said roll.
