Abstract:
A pourable liquid composition comprising water, a water soluble or water swellable organic polymer, comprising 25 to 90 mole % monomer or monomers selected from the group consisting of C8-C30 alkyl ethoxylated (meth)acrylates, C8-C30 alkyl ethoxylated (meth)acrylamides, C8-C30 alkyl (meth)allyl ethers and C8-C30 alkyl ethoxylated (meth)allyl ethers, an organic water miscible liquid selected from the group consisting of C1-5 alcohols, C3-5 ketones, C2-5 esters and C2-5 ethers, characterized in that the organic polymer is present as discrete particles of average diameter size of below 10 microns. A process of imparting water resistance to the components of a cable said process by first contacting one or more of said components of a cable with said pourable liquid composition, and then assembling the components to form the cable. The composition is particularly suitable for protecting optical fibers within a fiber optic cable against the ingress of water.

Strippable aqueous a ionomeric coating composition suitable for coating plastic substrates where the coatings are easily removable by caustic treatment of the plastic during recycling of the plastic. The strippable ionomeric coatings comprise 80% to 99.8% by weight carboxyl functional aqueous addition copolymer (latex) intermixed with zinc or zirconium ammonium complex, where the zinc or zirconium complex interact during curing to provide ionomeric crosslinking with the.

Abstract:
An aqueous emulsion for use as a water- and oil-repellent agent, which aqueous emulsion is produced by copolymerizing least one of lower alkyl methacrylate, benzyl (meth)acrylate and vinylidene chloride with polyfluoroalkyl group-containing (meth)acrylate ester, dispersed in water and in the presence of a nonionic emulsifier containing .alpha.-[1-(allyloxy)methyl-2-(p-nonylphenoxy)ethyl]-.omega.-hydroxy(polyoxyethylene). The resulting aqueous emulsion is completely free from organic solvents and has a distinguishing freeze-thaw stability.
Abstract:
The present application relates to hair-care compositions comprising aqueous polymer dispersions as film-forming agent. These polymers are obtained by free-radical polymerization of a radical monomer in the interior and/or partially at the surface of already existing polymer particles of polyester type.
Abstract:
A two-phase acidic aqueous composition for use as a neutralization layer is generally comprised of a water soluble aqueous phase and a water insoluble particle phase. The particle phase generally comprises a copolymer having recurring units of an organic acid monomer and an organic ester monomer. The aqueous phase comprises a water soluble polymer having recurring units of at least an organic acid monomer. The organic acid monomers selected for the aqueous phase polymer are capable of interacting with the particle phase polymers such that the particle phase polymers are brought into stabilizing, intimate association with the aqueous phase.
