Abstract:
The apparatus to put the process of the invention into practice comprises a silo 1 to dispense fat (oil), a duct 2 to feed in lime and optionally inert additives, a mixer 3 provided with a stirrer, at least a charging pot 4, a pocket vessel 5, a hopper provided with a distribution blade 6, a conveyor belt 7 continuously operating internally of the baking furnace, a baking furnace 8, a grid-type conveyor belt 9, a first crusher 10 and a mill 11. The powder lubricant obtained by said continuous process also has the advantage of exhibiting a better morphological appearance, more hardness and improved adhesion to the substrate to be lubricated.
Abstract:
A method for forming in a single step metal slugs of tantalum, niobium or a base alloy of one of these metals, by cold pressing. A lubricant film is either an oxide coating on the metal, into which a polytetrafluorethylene of low molecular weight is embedded, or it is a film of chlorotrifluorethylene. A metal slug is shaped by means of a hard-metal punch with a crowned bottom surface on its punch head and a rounded undercut in the area of the transition from the punch head to the punch shank.
Abstract:
A solid lubricating material consisting essentially of an intimate mixture of about 15 to 50 mole percent molybdenum trioxide, balance molybdenum disulfide. This material is particularly useful under extreme environmental conditions such as very high temperature or vacuum. The material may be used in powder form, compacted into a pellet or other desired shape, incorporated into a grease composition or incorporated into a resin-bonded solid film lubricant.
Abstract:
A high temperature screw lubricating paste is described which consists essentially of finely divided tin dioxide and, optionally, a thermally stable inorganic filler homogeneously dispersed in a carrier oil. The inert paste may be used with threaded connections to provide a low break-away torque when the connections are exposed to high temperatures for extended periods.
Abstract:
A self-lubricating, friction and wear reducing composite material for use over a wide temperature spectrum from cryogenic temperature to about 900.degree. C. in a chemically reactive environment comprising silver, barium fluoride/calcium fluoride eutectic, and metal bonded chromium carbide.
Abstract:
A lubricating composition and method are disclosed for lubricating the inner wall of a hollow conduit and the outer surface of an insulated flexible electrical conductor installed in the conduit. The lubricating composition is a powder comprised of the following powdered ingredients: lubricant such as talc; drying agent such as a micron-mesh silica; surfactant such as calcium stearate; odorant such as sassafras; and colorant such as a nontoxic food or cosmetic dye. The lubricating method first includes the step of blowing a quantity of a powdered lubricating composition into a hollow conduit resulting in the deposition of powdered lubricant on the inner wall of the conduit. In the next step of the method, an insulated flexible electrical conductor is inserted into the pre-lubricated conduit whereby powdered lubricant on the inner wall of the conduit rubs off onto the outer surface of the insulation of the electrical conductor thereby lubricating the insulation as it advances through the conduit.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a lubricant for use in the drawing and ironing of black plate steel during the manufacture of enclosed containers such as cans. The lubricant comprises an aqueous solution of an active component, such as a major portion of molybdenum disulfide, together with minor amounts of waxes and other materials. In performing the method of the present invention, a lubricant system is employed. The lubricant system comprises a dual lubricant coating. The first, or outside, coating is applied to that portion of the black plate steel which ultimately becomes the outside surface of the can body. The outside coating is applied, such as by spraying or gravure or offset printing, at a rate of about 25 to about 200 milligrams per square foot of steel surface. This coating is dried, as through the use of a heat source, such as infrared heat or hot air. A second, or inside, coating is applied to that portion of the black plate steel which ultimately becomes the inside surface of the can body. The inside coating may also be applied to the surface of the black plate steel in a manner similar to that used for the application of the outside coating. After the can body is produced, the outside and inside lubricants must be totally removed. Such removal may be achieved by washing the can bodies in an alkaline solution (pH about 7.5 to 11.5) having a temperature of about 140.degree. to about 160.degree. F.
Abstract:
A solid lubricating coating film capable of imparting favorable lubricity and corrosion resistance to a connection for oil country tubular goods. Two or more solid lubricants are dispersed in a binder resin. Graphite is contained in an amount of 50% or more and 90% or less of a total weight of the solid lubricants, and the graphite has a scaly shape and an average particle diameter of 10.0 μm or less. A solid lubricant made of one or more materials selected from BN, mica, talc, MCA, MoS2, PTFE, PFA, and FEP is further contained as other solid lubricants of the two or more types of solid lubricants. The binder resin contains a PEEK resin having an average particle diameter of 20 μm or less as a main component, and the PEEK resin is contained in an amount of 70% or more of a total weight of the binder resin.
Abstract:
A system and method of processing an alloy ingot or other alloy workpiece to reduce thermal cracking and reduce friction between the workpiece and the forging die may generally comprise positioning a multi-layer pad between the workpiece and the forging die. An article for processing an alloy ingot or other alloy workpiece to reduce thermal cracking also is disclosed. The present disclosure also is directed to an alloy workpieces processed according to the methods described herein, and to articles of manufacture including or made from alloy workpieces made according to these methods.
