The improved version of a chromated metal sheet has a chromate layer on at least one side of a metal substrate or a plated metal substrate and it is characterized in that the chromate layer has a chromium deposit of 10-200 mg/m.sup.2 per surface in terms of metallic Cr, that the chromate layer contains silica in an amount of 0.1-6.0 in terms of the weight ratio of SiO.sub.2 to Cr, and that the chromate layer contains at least one kind of lubricating particles selected from the group consisting of graphite, MoS.sub.2, BN, calcium stearate and an organic lubricating substance in an amount of 0.1-100 in terms of the weight ratio of the lubricating particles to Cr. The lubricating particles can have a surface layer capable of nonionic surface activating action, and this surface layer accounts for 1-70 wt % of the lubricating particles. The chromated metal sheet has sufficient lubricity to withstand press forming in the absence of lube oil coatings, has high enough electric conductivity to present no problems in spot weldability and groundability, and has sufficiently high corrosion resistance to withstand use in a naked state.
Abstract:
This invention is directed to a liquid metal and oil teating composition and to the process of preparing the composition. In the process there are first mixed together a vegetable oil such as cashew oil, an oleate ester such as magnesium oleate, and Ingredient A which is material selected from the group consisting of powdered ferric chloride, lead oxide, ferric oxide, iron carbide, chromium carbide and tungsten carbide and mixtures thereof dispersed in an aqueous solution of acid selected from the group consisting of hydrochloric acid, perchloric acid and sulfuric acid. The acid solution is concentrated, preferably containing about 40 volume % acid. The mixture is heated and stirred and then distilled. The residue is then heated to about 100.degree.-150.degree. F. while adding to it, with stirring, an antioxidant, a polar hydrocarbon, a carbonyl, a carboxyl amide, a viscosity improver, at least one of a tackifier and a sulfonate, and a petroleum oil until a homogeneous liquid is obtained.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sliding member formed of a synthetic resin composed mainly of a polyethylene, said sliding member comprising a molded piece of a polyethylene having a viscosity-average molecular weight of 500,000 to 6,000,000 inclusive, having a low coefficient of friction and excelling in both its own wear resistance and its property of preventing the abrasion of an associated member.

Abstract:
Lubricant for use in hot forming of steel at high temperatures and especially in the production of seamless tubes in so-called multiple pipe mills, in which the lubricant must adhere water-resistant to the tool. This is achieved by a lubricant containing, besides a solid lubricant and a thickening agent, a binding agent from the series of the carboxylated styrene-butadiene latices.
