Abstract:
A data processing system (1 ) may include a first data path (100) and a second data path (101 ). A set (2) of components (200,210,220,230) may include a system component (200,220) and a partner component (210,230), each having a communication interface (201 ,211 ,221 ,231 ) for communicating data. The components are operable in a synchronized mode and a non-synchronized mode with respect to each other. The set may further include a configuration control system (240) connected to the system component and the partner component, for controlling the set to be in a synchronized mode configuration or a non- synchronized mode configuration. The configuration control system may include a first path selector module (241 ,243) connecting the communication interface of the system component to the first data path and the second data path and a partner path selector module (242,244) connecting the communication interface of the partner component to the first data path and the second data path. The path selector modules may be arranged to enable, depending on the configuration, communication of data to the respective component via one or more selected data path, selected from the first data path and the second data path, and to inhibit communication via the not selected data paths.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for separating the processing of program codes in a computer system comprising at least two execution units. It is possible to switch between at least two operating modes, the first operating mode corresponding to a comparison mode and the second operating mode corresponding to a performance mode. The at least two execution units process the same program code in the comparison mode. The invention is characterised in that a separation in the program code is carried out during the switching from the comparison mode to the performance mode, by associating a characteristic with each execution unit, the association being carried out according to the characteristic of at least two execution units of different program codes.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for controlling a memory access operation in a computer system having at least two execution units, wherein a buffer store, in particular a cache, is provided for each execution unit and changeover means and comparison means are also provided, and wherein the system changes over between a performance mode and a comparison mode, characterized in that, in the performance mode, each execution unit accesses the buffer store that is respectively assigned to it and, in the comparison mode, both execution units access one buffer store.
Abstract:
A unit and method for clock changeover in a system having at least two processing units, in which switchover device(s) are provided by which a switchover between at least two operating modes of the system is able to be implemented in which a clock pulse changeover is carried out in at least one processing unit in a switching of the operating mode.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for determining a starting state of a computer system comprising at least two execution units, with the capacity to switch between a performance mode and a comparison mode. A first register group is provided for the performance mode, said first register group consisting of at least one first register for a first execution unit and at least one second register for a second execution unit. The inventive method is characterised in that, during the switch from the performance mode to the comparison mode, a starting state for the comparison mode is provided in a second register group consisting of at least one third register for the first execution unit and at least one fourth register for the second execution unit, the starting sate for the comparison mode being obtained by switching between the first and second register groups.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for controlling a computer system comprising at least two execution units, switching between at least two operating modes, a first operating mode corresponding to a comparison mode and a second operating mode corresponding to a performance mode. The invention is characterised in that at least a certain quantity of running time objects is defined, and a control program, especially a scheduler, is provided, for associating resources of the computer system with the running time objects according to information relating to the mode of operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and device for monitoring operations of a computer system comprising at least two execution units, wherein switching means are provided and make it is possible to switch at least two operating modes to each other and comparison means are provided, the first operating mode corresponds to the comparison mode and the second operating mode corresponds to the performance mode and the first operation is monitored by the second operation, in the comparison mode said second operation is run on at least two execution units and each second operation which is run on at least two execution units monitors the first operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for determining a start status of a computer system having at least two execution units, whereby it is possible to switch between a performance mode and a comparative mode and whereby a start status for the comparative mode is generated when switching from the performance mode to the comparative mode. The inventive method is characterized by providing memories or memory areas to be adapted with an identifier for the start status, said identifier informing whether the data and/or commands in these memories or memory areas have to be changed for the start status or may remain unchanged.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for mode switching and data comparison in a computer system comprising at least two processing units, switching means for switching between at least two operating modes, and comparison means, a first operating mode corresponding to a comparison mode and a second operating mode corresponding to a performance mode. The invention is characterised in that a vote is carried out in the comparison mode, at least as a 2 out of 3 evaluation, control means being provided for the execution of said vote.
