Abstract:
An electronic-mail receiver, a converter, a controller, a facsimile transmitter, and an output system are integrated in a body of an apparatus. The electronic-mail receiver receives an electronic-mail including image data in an electronic-mail format. The converter converts the image data in an electronic-mail format into image data in facsimile format. The controller determines whether the received electronic-mail is directed to facsimile transmission. The facsimile transmitter negotiates with a facsimile destination, and transmits the converted image data in the facsimile format to the facsimile destination via a telephone network, when the controller determines that the received electronic-mail is directed to facsimile transmission. The printer outputs the image data in the facsimile format when the controller determines that the received electronic-mail address is not directed to facsimile transmission.
Abstract:
A Web server function is provided for an image processing apparatus including a scanner for reading an image on a document, a printer for printing an image, an E-mail transmission/reception function, a FAX transmission/reception function, and the like to make the image processing apparatus generate a list of information about the status of various jobs and image data stored in a storage unit as a Web page. A user can browse and operate this Web page by using the Web browser of a computer connected to the apparatus through a LAN. The user of the computer can therefore grasp and manipulate information about a plurality of jobs executed by the image processing apparatus and information about image data at a remote place from the image processing apparatus.
Abstract:
An electronic mail system connected to a network includes a section for converting an image of a document surface into corresponding document image data, and a section for compressing the document image data into compression-resultant image data. The electronic mail system also includes a section for converting the compression-resultant image data into corresponding image data of a given electronic-mail format, a section for receiving information of an electronic-mail destination address, and a section for transmitting the image data of the electronic-mail format toward the electronic-mail destination address via the network. The electronic mail system may further include a section for receiving image data in an electronic mail, a section for converting the received image data into corresponding received image data of a given facsimile format, a section for expanding the received image data of the facsimile format into expansion-resultant image data, and a section for printing the expansion-resultant image data.
Abstract:
In a facsimile communication method for transmitting facsimile data to a reception terminal from a facsimile machine via a communication network, a transmission process in the facsimile machine includes the following steps: (a) a step of saving image data of an original to be transmitted as facsimile data in a storage; (b) a step of generating access information data for access to the image data, saved in the storage, from the reception terminal via the transmission network; (c) a step of sending the access information data to the reception terminal by an e-mail; and (d) a step of transmitting the image data in the storage to the reception terminal from the facsimile machine by a communication protocol of a point-to-point data transfer form upon reception of an access request for the image data from the reception terminal.
Abstract:
A source communication terminal includes a redirection unit for redirecting target data for transmission and a modem control command issued by data communication software to a communication interface, to a designated communication terminal on a network via the network interface, and for transferring a response message returned from the designated communication terminal in reply to the modem control command from the designated communication, to the data communication software.

Abstract:
E-mail transmitting/receiving means for a network are provided. Identification data are created from the received mail and reply mail including the identification data is notified to the sender of the received mail. In the case that a file attached to the received mail cannot be opened, the message ID of the received mail is included in the identification data. This makes it possible to accurately and simply notify the sender of the data that resulted in an error or data that have been received successfully even in the case that a large capacity memory or hard disk is not available.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for performing reliable data transfer operations over a global computer network are provided. This is accomplished by transmitting data stored on a first computer system connected to the global computer network to a second computer system connected to the global computer network, sending a receipt acknowledgment signal to the first computer system when the data is received on the second computer system, monitoring acknowledgment signals received by the first computer system, and automatically transmitting the data via facsimile if the receipt of the data is not acknowledged within a predetermined time period. In addition, a paging signal is automatically transmitted to a the business partner to indicate that the data has been transferred by facsimile. Unlike prior art techniques, in which data transfers are performed in batch off-line, embodiments of the invention allow for secure data transfer operations to be performed on-line in real-time. In addition, since a global computer network is utilized, there is no need to maintain a dedicated communication line between the first and the second computer systems, but rather a single network connection can be used by the first and the second computer systems to communicate with any number of computer systems connected to the global computer network.
Abstract:
A cloud system and a device associate cloud user authentication information and local user authentication information with each other and manage the cloud user authentication information and the local user authentication information. The local user authentication information and the execution request are transmitted to the device, and the cloud user authentication information and an execution result are transmitted to the cloud system.
Abstract:
A transmission apparatus transmits e-mail to a reception apparatus through a network by selecting one of a communication method via a mail server and a communication method without intervention of a mail server. This transmission apparatus generates the e-mail and transmits, to the reception apparatus, the e-mail and information representing the reply method of a transmittal confirmation request in response to the e-mail. The transmission apparatus receives, from the reception apparatus in accordance with the reply method, a transmittal confirmation result in response to the transmitted e-mail.
