    Abstract: An image reader which reads an image drawn on paper or sheetlike record medium, an image processor such as a copier or a scanner equipped with the image reader, or a fiber lens used for these apparatuses. The image processor scales up as the whole to read both sides of a document. Then, an image reader (10a) is disposed above a transport path and an image reader (10b) below it. For scale-down of the processor, there arises the necessity of reducing the diameter of an optical fiber (140) of the fiber lens (14) which the image reader comprises as the light-receiving means. In this case, the optical fiber (140) is provided with a light-absorbing layer (8 (143)) around the optical fiber (140) to suppress crosstalk or flare phenomenon. The illuminance of a light source means (15) which the image reader comprises decreases with scale-down. If the illuminance is small, image quality deteriorates by the float of the document. Therefore, the image reader comprises a light source means which uniforms the illuminance over a predetermined width in horizontal and vertical scanning directions, thereby avoiding the deterioration of image quality.

    Abstract: An image-reading apparatus includes: a light dividing unit that divides irradiated light so that a part of the light having a first wavelength is diffracted, and a part of the light having a second wavelength is transmitted; a first light measuring unit that measures an intensity of light entering into a first measuring area, and outputs first measurement information indicating the measured intensity; a second light measuring unit that measures an intensity of light entering into a second measuring area, and outputs second measurement information indicating the measured intensity; an image-forming unit that forms an image of a subject for reading in the first measurement area, and that forms a virtual image in the second measurement area, using light diffracted by the light dividing unit; and a generation unit that corrects the first measurement information on the basis of the second measurement information.
