Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably fix a carriage so that movement of the carriage is regulated even when impact is applied to the carriage during transport.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes a carriage 1 that moves back and forth in a predetermined direction, a housing 3 having the carriage 1 provided in its inside, and a scanner unit provided openably/closably with respect to the housing 3. The image forming apparatus is provided with cylindrical protrusions 10a. A carriage fixing sheet 30 having engagement holes 30a, which can respectively engage with the cylindrical protrusions 10a, can regulate the movement of the carriage 1 in at least the predetermined direction. When the scanner unit is closed with the carriage fixing sheet 30 mounted on the carriage 1 and the cylindrical protrusions 10a and the engagement holes 30a engaging with each other, the carriage fixing sheet 30 fixes the carriage 1. When the scanner unit is opened, the carriage fixing sheet 30 can be removed.
