Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To satisfy a need of methods that allow pulse shapes and durations to be manipulated for different phacoemulsification applications and serger. SOLUTION: The method of generating energy for use with an ophthalmic surgical device includes: a process of generating pulses having an on-time, a first off-time greater than the on-time, and a first amplitude; a process of shortening the first off-time of the pulses; and a process of increasing the amplitude of the pulses from the first amplitude to a second amplitude when the first off-time is shortened to a pre-determined second off-time. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To meet a need of a method where pulse forms and duration can be manipulated according to the purpose of use of various phacoemulsification and operations. SOLUTION: The method for generating energy used by an ophthalmic surgery apparatus characterized by comprising processes to program a linear rise component, to program a linear decay component, and to generate pulses comprising multi segments is provided. A first segment comprises the linear rise component which increases from a first amplitude to a second amplitude, a second segment starts at the end of the first segment and is the second amplitude, and a third segment comprises the linear decay component which decreases from the second amplitude to a third amplitude. The linear rise component and linear decay component are programmed separately from natural rise and natural decay generated when output elements for generating pulses are operated or stopped. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved graphical user interface in an ocular surgery system such as a crystal lens ultrasonic emulsification suction and vitreous body retina surgery system. SOLUTION: The interface or interface screen is generated in the step 2100. A user touches in a display element or another previously defined area etc., on the display screen in the step 2110. A window is generated in response to the touch on the display screen in the step 2120. The user can adjust the expression of the function of parameter or the value of parameter in the window in the step 2130. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tip for cleaning employed by an operative procedure for raising the outflow of the hydatoid from an eye in order to help a decline in the intraocular pressure of a glaucoma patient. SOLUTION: The tip for cleaning consists of a chip 10 for cleaning comprising a proximal shaft 12 and a distal shaft 14 and has a hand piece. The pulse of a balanced salt solution is sent to trabecular meshwork located in camera anterior bulbi buttock through the tip for cleaning having a flat form or an oval form. This washes the trabecular meshwork or can make openings or wash and remove matter which blocks the trabecular meshwork. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for providing more stable intraocular pressure during phacoemulsification. SOLUTION: This method for providing more stable intraocular pressure during phacoemulsification, comprises: a step of providing a control module 24 capable of controlling an aspiration pump 20, a source of a washing fluid, and a power level supplied to a handpiece 12; a step of supplying the washing fluid from the source of the washing fluid to the handpiece 12 through a tubing 14; and a step of reducing a washing fluid flow resistance in the tubing 14. Because variation in the intra ocular pressure is directly proportional to the washing fluid flow resistance, more stable IOP (intraocular pressure) may be maintained by reducing the washing fluid flow resistance of a washing system without increasing a washing fluid flow rate even in higher aspiration vacuum. Reduction of the washing fluid flow resistance in the washing system may be most highly achieved by expanding the inner diameter of the tubing 14. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dietary supplement for maintaining and improving ocular health. SOLUTION: An improved beadlet formulation useful for inclusion in the dietary supplement is provided to obviate defects in conventional techniques or other defects. In particular, the improved beadlet comprises DHA (docosahexaenoic acid); rosemary and/or its constituents; and excipients. These beadlets are particularly useful for inclusion in the dietary supplement customized for improving and maintaining the state of ocular nutrition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a movable surgical tray connected to a surgery console and containing one or more grooves on which a variety of hand pieces are installed. SOLUTION: The groove enables a fluid pipe to move from the surgical tray in the outward horizontal direction, and also is useful to prevent the pipe from tilting or hanging down and touching a non-sterilized surface. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and low-cost clamp capable of tightly closing and holding an incision in sclera during an operation. SOLUTION: This clamp 10 for wound comprises two substantially similar halves 12. The halves 12 are simultaneously energized by a spring or elastomer band 14. Projections or needle parts 20 integrally formed with the halves 12 cause the clamp 10 to be tightly engaged on the conjunctiva or sclera around the wound. Energization of the halves 12 to each other provides tight sealing of the wound. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surgical console with a panel display mounted on a three-axis gimbal which permits articulation of the panel display via swivel, spin and tilt axes. SOLUTION: This surgical console 10 has the panel display 12 mounted on the three-axis gimbal which permits articulation of the panel display via swivel, spin and tilt axes. An articulation mechanism 16 uses two helix cable wraps with a single continuous cable that allows for large rotation of the panel display. The continuous cable simplifies the structure to minimize electric signal noise to the panel display 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
