Abstract:
The invention concerns a method of treating effluents in order to eliminate the organic compounds. The method comprises a primary oxidation stage with hydrogen peroxide in an alkaline medium, a secondary oxidation stage in a neutral medium and a subsequent absorption stage. The effluent thus treated can be discharged directly to drain. The invention can be applied in particular to effluents originating from photographic development baths.
Abstract:
The present image concerns a silver halide radiographic element intended for industrial radiography, and a new radiographic system and a method of forming the radiographic image. The present invention concerns a made-up photographic element designed to be exposed to X or gamma rays, which comprises a support covered on at least one face with a layer of silver halide emulsion consisting of tabular grains, the element being characterised in that the tabular grains have an aspect ratio of at least 2. In this way the speed of the elements intended for industrial radiography is improved.
Abstract:
A photosensitive emulsIon is disclosed comprised of a dispersing medium and silver halide grains containing at least 80 mole percent bromide, based on silver, wherein at least 50% of the projected area of said silver halide grains is accounted for by tabular grains free of twin planes having {100} parallel major faces, said emulsion being chemically sensitized and having a reciprocity failure of less than 35 sensitivity units between exposures of respectively 10 -5 seconds and 100 seconds. The emulsion can be employed as a latent image forming emulsion in a photographic element. The emulsion can be prepared by a process preparing a silver bromide photosenstive emulsion, comprising the following essentail steps: (a) a nucleation step whereby a fine-grain emulsion with a pAg of between 4 and 6.5 and a pH of between 2 and 5 is precipitated, while maintaining, at the start of the nucleation and for a short time, a stoichiometric excess concentration of silver corresponding to a pAg of less than 5, and (b) a physical ripening step, at a pAg of between 8 and 9.5 and a pH of between 6 and 8.
Abstract:
The invention relates to the alignment of mechanical components. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: (a) providing one of the elements with a regular polygonal recess (4, 32) having N faces; b) disposing on the other element (1, 27) N freely rotating cylindrical rollers (5, 6, 7, 28, 29); c) moving one of the elements with respect to the other in such a way as to introduce the N cylindrical rollers (5, 6, 7, 28, 29) into the said polygonal recess (4, 32), each of the rollers substantially facing a corresponding vertex of the polygonal recess; and d) turning one of the elements (1, 27) with respect to the other through an angle substantially equal to 180/N°. Application to the alignment of roll unloading shafts.
Abstract:
The invention concerns an unwinder for a web product. The unwinder according to the invention comprises: a) an unwinding unit (1) having a first rotating shaft (5) designed to receive a roll N of the web product; an unwinding circuit (8, 10) designed to make the web (9) from the roll N describe a first circulation loop having a given geometry; b) a unit (2) designed to prepare a roll N+1 during the unwinding of the roll N into the unwinding unit; c) means (3) for moving the preparation unit (2) in front of the unwinding unit (1); and d) means for, after the complete unwinding of the roll N, transferring the roll N+1 and its associated circulation loop (16, 19) from the preparation unit (2), respectively, onto the first shaft (5) and onto the unwinding circuit (8, 10) of unwinding unit. Application to the unwinding of photographic products.
Abstract:
The present invention concerns a novel composition for developing silver halide photographic products having improved biodegradability. The composition of the invention comprises at least one metal ions capable of reducing silver ions and at least one organic complexing agent of formula:
wherein R 1 and R 2 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a C 1 -C 10 alkyl group, M is hydrogen or a counter-ion, p and q are 1, and n is greater than or equal to 2, and preferably between 2 and 5. Such a developing composition makes it possible effectively to process a large number of exposed photographic products and has improved biodegradability.
