Abstract: A hearing assistance device for measuring sound pressure at a tympanic membrane of a wearer's ear including a high frequency range. The device comprises a processor connected to a sensor in the ear canal. The device provides a measure of the sound pressure level at the tympanic membrane of the wearer using a null frequency and a null Q measured at a distant position away from the tympanic membrane. The system does not require a precise knowledge of the ear canal, nor does it require an elaborate calibration step. In various embodiments, the present approach works at low and high frequencies.

Abstract: One aspect relates to a method to block data transmission interference from an input of a receiver in a hearing instrument. In various embodiments, an acoustic-based signal representative of sound received at a microphone system is receiver. It is determined if a trigger associated with a data transmission has occurred. A signal representative of the acoustic-based signal is presented to the input of the receiver when the trigger has not occurred such that the receiver converts the acoustic-based signal into an output acoustic signal. The signal representative of the acoustic-based signal is blocked from the input of the receiver when the trigger has occurred such that data transmission interference is blocked from being converted into the acoustic signal. In various embodiments, the method further comprises presenting a signal representative of a substitute waveform to the input of the receiver when the trigger has occurred. Abstract: Systems, devices and methods are provided to switch between transmit and receive modes in wireless hearing aids. One aspect relates to an apparatus for use within a communication system that has an inductive coil connected to a tuning capacitor at a node. An amplifier is connected to the node through a DC blocking capacitor to receive an induced signal in the inductive coil in a receive mode. A driver energizes the inductive coil with a driven signal in a transmit mode. According to various embodiments, the apparatus transforms the inductive coil, the tuning capacitor and the DC blocking capacitor into an equivalent series resonant circuit to reduce an inductive load in the transmit mode, and transforms the inductive coil, the tuning capacitor and the DC blocking capacitor into an equivalent parallel resonant circuit to increase an inductive load in the receive mode.
