    Abstract: PURPOSE: A composition containing EGCG(epigallocatechin gallate) for skin whitening and a method for stabilizing EGCG are provided to improve long-term stability and to maximize the whitening effect. CONSTITUTION: A composition for skin whitening contains EGCG as an active ingredient, a natural inorganic thickener, and an anionic surfactant. The natural inorganic thickener is selected from a group consisting of magnesium silicate, magnesium aluminum silicate, sodium magnesium silicate, and bentonite. The anionic surfactant is sodium stearoyl glutamate, potassium cetyl phosphate, or a mixture thereof. A method for stabilizing EGCG comprises a step of mixing the natural inorganic thickener and the anionic surfactant with EGCG.
