    Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for encoding a baseband in a digital broadcasting system and a method for modulating frequency using the same are provided to reduce a TOV(Threshold Of Visibility) by applying 1/2 TCM to a VSB transmitting system, thereby improving mobile environment receiving performance of the VSB transmitting system. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for encoding a baseband in a VSB(Vestigial Side Band) transmitting system, an interference filter pre-coder functioning as a filter reducing interchannel interference is removed. A code rate 1/2 TCM(Trellis Coded Modulation) coder has four signal levels by obtaining two-bit output signal to one-bit input signal by using two delayers(201,203) and a binary adder(202) in the baseband. A symbol mapper(204) has four output symbols by symbol-converting the four signal levels.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: A fast adaptive predistorter using a look-up table and a method thereof are provided to be capable of using an existing HPA(High Power Amplifier) in conversion of a digital TV broadcasting and at any transmitter requesting an amplification of a communication signal by using a predistorter which is capable of processing data in real time. CONSTITUTION: A size of an output signal and a phase characteristics for an input signal of an HPA(High Power Amplifier) are gained from a multiplier(505), an HPA(High Power Amplifier)(506), a characteristics predictor of the HPA(507), and a subtracter(508). A sending signal size measuring machine(501), an LUT(Line Unit)(502), a time delayer(503), and an adapter(504) perform a pre-distorting on a signal in order to send it. A modeling of the characteristics predictor of the HPA(507) is quickly achieved for the initialization of the LUT(Line Unit)(502). A Vm(t)(509) is a signal to be transmitted and shows a sending signal after a modulating operation. The size of the sending signal(Vm(t)) is obtained from the sending signal size measuring machine(501).
