Abstract: PURPOSE: A multi-tier packet inspection apparatus and a method thereof are provided to efficiently process the IP packet flow by using the information processed in the lower and higher layers. CONSTITUTION: A lower layer processing unit(103) creates the lower layer hash information based on the lower layer packet of the Multi-tier packet. The lower layer processing unit processes the first processing for the flow of the Multi-tier packet in connection with the lower layer hash information created. A higher layer pre-processor(107) processes the second processing for the flow of the Multi-tier packet processed the first in connection with the lower layer hash information. The lower layer processing unit distinguishes the lower layer process information recorded in responsive to the lower layer hash information from the first database. By using the distinguished lower layer process information, the lower layer processing unit processes the first processing.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A packet processing device for improvement of packet handling performance and a method thereof are provided to allocate a flow including FTP(File Transfer Protocol) or E-mail etc. to one or more processors at a standby state. CONSTITUTION: A packet inspection unit(200) inspects the payload of a packet in order to confirm whether the sequence integrity of received flow packets is necessary. The flow packets are received through a network line. If the sequence integrity is not necessary, a packet allocation unit(210) successively allocates the flow packet to partial processors at a standby state, wherein the sequence integrity of the flow packets is not necessary. The packet allocation unit includes a packet pre-processing unit(211) and a packet classification unit(212).

Abstract: PURPOSE: An apparatus for synchronizing time using a centralized port are provided to reduce the use of a memory without the use of an additional register for each port or a central memory by transferring a synchronization message including a time stamp value. CONSTITUTION: An input port(20) receives a synchronization message. In addition, the input port transfers a time stamp value to a synchronization port through a switch with a synchronization message, wherein the time stamp value is generated at the reception point of the synchronization message. An output port(24) transfers the synchronization message received from the switch to the outside, and transfers the time stamp value generated at the transmission point of the synchronization message to the synchronization port.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A protection switching method in a ring network and a device thereof are provided to reduce a network bandwidth required for performing fast protection switching when an error happens. CONSTITUTION: The first connection node receives the first R-APS(Ring-Auto Protection Switching) message and the second R-APS message transmitted from a node included in the first ring network(S602). The first connection node determines a blockaded location of the first ring network using the first R-APS message, the second R-APS message and topology information. The first connection node receives a topology change signal transmitted from the second ring network(S606).
