Abstract:
The present invention provides a multi-layer structure having improved adhesion between its layers. The multi-layer structure has in the following order: a layer of PVC, a layer of adhesive resin, and a layer of polyamide. The adhesive resin comprises organic solvent, vinyl resin, phthalate plasticizer, and leveling agent. The vinyl resin is selected from the group consisting of vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol terpolymer (VAGH), vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer (VYHH), and vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-maleic acid terpolymer (VMCM). Electrical conductors formed from a wire conductor and the multi-layer structure have superior adhesion between layers even after the polyamide layer absorbs moisture.
Abstract:
A direction finding receiving system for use on a protected aircraft in which a signal from an ATCRABS transponder on an intruder aircraft is received has been described incorporating a four element interferometer type antenna array, reversing switches, individual receivers, a phase detector and a processor for processing the outputs of the phase detector. The invention overcomes the problem of correcting for the difference in phase delay of signals passing through the receivers.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a process for reproducibly forming monodisperse titania spheres by the hydrolysis of titanium alkoxides in the presence of an amine-containing size control additive in such a way as to constrain the particle size within a narrow range.
Abstract:
A microcontroller having two internal timers is used to calibrate the engine rpm and wheel speed signals of a vehicle and to time the output periods of these signals, which are transmitted to, for example, digital rpm and speed indicators.
Abstract:
An article of composition which has a barrier layer of an amorphous nylon copolymer. The copolymer is polymerized from (A) a lactam or aminoalkanoic acid, such as caprolactam, (B) an aralkylene or cycloalkylene diamine, such as m-xylylenediamine, and (C) one or more aromatic diacids, such as isophthalic acid and terephthalic acid. The copolymer barrier layer exhibits excellent oxygen barrier resistance when exposed to moisture.
Abstract:
A method is presented to prepare totally functionalized ethercapped oligomeric polyphenols without molecular weight fractionation. The products generally are very low in inorganic salts and are characterized by the absence of volatiles leading to void formation in their subsequent curing. The success of the method rests upon conducting the reaction under totally homogenenous conditions throughout.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a cathode for use in batteries, and to batteries containing the cathode, which cathode comprises sodium cobalt dioxyde in the P2 phase.
Abstract:
A voltage doubler circuit (100) and system incorporating a plurality of such circuits for energizing in an alternating sequential manner a greater plurality of fuel injectors (200) arranged in groups corresponding to the number of voltage doubler circuits.
Abstract:
An especially adapted engine valve (28) includes structure which damps motion of the valve (28) during its final closure to seat. A spool portion (38) of the valve (28) establishes, with its associated guideway (42), a damping chamber (40) into which oil under pressure may be admitted via a feed passageway (47). Oil is discharged through a flow-restricted bleed passageway (48) during closure of the valve (28) so as to create beneficial pressure buildup within the damping chamber (40) and thus reduce the valve's closing velocity. Since the damping functions occur passively (i.e. dependent only upon the relative location of the valve within its guideway), gentle closing of the valve (28) can occur at any point on the cam (12) lobe thereby making it especially well suited for use in ''lost motion'' valve control systems.
Abstract:
A fluid pressure braking system includes pressure sensors (50, 54, 56, 58) in each of the supply and service reservoirs (16, 28, 30) and in the supply line (46) to the trailer. The system includes an air compressor (12) which is loaded and unloaded in response to variations in the pressure level in the supply reservoir (16) by actuation of a solenoid valve (22) by an electronic control module (26) which is responsive to the pressure sensors. The system includes spring brakes (66) which are controlled by the control module (26) through actuation of solenoid valves (74). The control module (26) is similarly responsive to the pressure level in the supply line (46) to control a solenoid valve (42) which controls communication through the supply line (46).
