Catalyst components component for the (co)polymerization of olefins CH 2 =CHR, in which R is a hydrocarbyl radical with 1-12 carbon atoms, optionally in mixture with ethylene, comprising Ti, Mg, Zn, CI, and an electron donor compound characterized by the fact that more than 50% of the titanium atoms are in the +4 valence state, and that the amount of Zn ranges from 0.1 to 4% by weight based on then total weight of said solid catalyst component.

A pre-polymerized catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins endowed with high activity and morphological stability comprises a non-stereospecific solid catalyst component containing Ti, Mg and a halogen, and an amount of an ethylene/alpha-olefin block (co)polymer ranging from 0.1 up to 5g per g of said solid catalyst component, said prepolymerized catalyst component being characterized by a mercury porosity, due to pores having radius up to 1 μm, ranging from 0.15 to 0.5 cm 3 /g and by the fact that at least 55% of said porosity is due to pores having pore radius up to 0.2μm.

A pre-polymerized catalyst component for the polymerization of olefins CH2═CHR, wherein R is hydrogen or a C1-C12 hydrocarbon group, characterized by comprising a non-stereospecific solid catalyst component, comprising Ti, Mg and a halogen, said pre-polymerized catalyst component containing an amount of a (co)polymer of a monomer having formula CH2═CHA, where A is a C6 aliphatic or aromatic ring, optionally substituted, up to 5 g per g of said solid catalyst component. Said prepolymerized catalyst shows an excellent balance in terms of activity, morphological stability, reduced tendency to agglomeration and hydrogen response.

The present invention relates to catalysts systems for the polymerization of ethylene and its mixtures with olefins CH 2 =CHR, wherein R is an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical having 1-12 carbon atoms, comprising (A) a solid catalyst component comprising Ti, Mg, halogen, and optionally an electron donor compound in a donor/Ti molar ratio lower than 1, (B) an aluminum alkyl compound and (C) a silicon compound of formula R I mSi(OR II )n in which R I is C1 -C20 alkyl group, R II is a secondary or tertiary alkyl group or a cycloalkyl having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms, m is an integer ranging from 0 to 3, and n is (4-m). The catalyst of the invention is suitably used in (co)polymerization processes of ethylene to prepare (co)polymers having narrow Molecular Weight Distribution (MWD) and high activity.
