    Abstract: The invention comprises substituted pyridazones of formula where R is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl or halophenyl, X is amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxyalkylamino, cycloalkylamino, alkenylamino, omega-phenylalkylamino, benzylamino, polymethyleneimino, morpholino or piperazino, and Y is halogen. They are prepared by reacting the corresponding pyridazones in which X is chlorine with ammonia or an appropriate amine. The products are herbicides and have various other effects on plant growth (see Group VI). Specifications 776,759 and 776,760 are referred to.ALSO:Herbicidal compositions comprise a pyridazone of formula where R is hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl or halophenyl, X is amino, alkylamino, dialkylamino, hydroxyalkylamino, cycloalkylamino, alkenylamino, omega-phenylalkylamino, benzylamino, polymethyleneimino, morpholino or piperazino, and Y is halogen, and a carrier. Solutions, suspensions, emulsions or dusting powders may be used. The carrier may be phytotoxic, e.g. high boiling mineral oil fractions or chlorohydrocarbons. Other carriers include coal tar oils, vegetable and animal oils, hydrocarbons, alcohols, ketones, ethers, water and solid carriers. Wetting agents, emulsifying agents, fatty acids, resins and protective colloids may be present as may bactericides, fungicides or fertilizers. The agents may be used as total or selective herbicides and for defoliation, premature desiccation, reduction of fruit formation, retardation of blossoming, prolongation of cropping periods and storability, and for promoting germination and root formation.     Abstract: The invention comprises a salt of a tertiary amine of the general formula: in which R1 represents an alkyl radical with from 8 to 18 carbon atoms and R2 and R3 represents alkyl radicals with from 1 to 7 carbon atoms with a chlorinated fatty acid other than a , a -dichloro-isovaleric acid) a chlorinated benzoic acid, 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-acetic acid, 2-methyl-4-chlorphenoxy acetic acid, 2,4-dichlorophenoxy-a -propionic acid, 2-methyl-4-chlorophenoxy-a -propionic acid or 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid. In a modification R2 and R3 are joined together to form an alkylene chain system containing 2 to 6 methylene groups and form a heterocyclic ring with the nitrogen atom. Additional acids specified include a , a -dichloropropionic acid, a , a -dichlorobutyric acid, a , a , b -isobutyric and butyric acids, a , a , g -trichlorobutyric acid, 2, 3, 6-tri- and 2, 3, 5, 6-tetrachloro benzoic acids. Amines specified include dodecyl, nonyl-and decyl hexamethylene imines, N-nonyl pyrrolidine-N-hexyldecylpiperidine, N-decylpyrrolidine, and dimethyloctylamine. The salts are prepared by mixing equivalent amounts of the acid and liquid amine and mixtures of several acids and amines may be reacted. The products are employed in herbicidal compositions (see Group VI). In a modification salts of amines of the above formula wherein R2 and R3 are joined together to form an alkylene chain containing 2 to 6 methylene groups and forming a heterocyclic ring with the nitrogen atom are employed. Amine salts specified include the dodecylhexamethyleneimine salt of 2 - methyl - 4 - chlorphenoxy - a - propionic acid, dimethyloctylamine, C8 to C10 alkyl pyrrolidine and C16 to C18 alkyl piperidine salts of a mixture of 2 - methyl - 4 - chloro - phenoxy a - propionic acid and 2, 3, 5, 6 - tetrachlorobenzoic acid, the N - decylpyrrolidine salt of a , a - dichloropropionic acid, the nonylhexamethylene salt of a , a -dichlorobutyric acid and the N-dodedyl hexamethylimine salts of a , a , - dichloro - propionic acid - butyric acids.
