Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a miniaturized, accurate interferometer by using what is called a surface light emission type semiconductor laser as a light source. CONSTITUTION:The semiconductor laser 10 uses parts of thin films 21 and 22 formed on the surface of a substrate 24 where the laser 10 is formed as an active area 20 and light 23 is emitted from the area. The length L of a resonator constituting the laser is reducible to several mum, the oscillation spectrum of possible oscillation wavelengths is single, and a jump among the possible oscillation wavelengths, i.e. mode hopping is not caused even in case of temperature variation, etc. Therefore, the surface light emission type semiconductor laser like this is used as the light source to enable the light source of 5mm in diameter and about 5mm in height, so the interferometer is reduced in size on the whole and the semiconductor laser has no wavelength jump regardless of temperature variation, etc., so the high-accuracy interferometer can be constituted.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate production and to improve mass productivity as well as reliability and practicability by forming the film of a light guide on a mold having the shape of a light guide element and adhering the light guide and substrate. CONSTITUTION:The mold 10 having the shape of the light guide element is prepd. The light guide 11 is then formed on the mold 10. An adhesive agent 12 is coated on the light guide 11 and the substrate 13 is placed on the adhesive agent 12 and is adhered thereto. Thermosetting or photosetting resins, etc., which have the refractive index smaller than the refractive index of the light guide material and act to securely adhere the substrate 13 and the light guide 11 are adopted for the adhesive agent 12. The mold 10 and the light guide 11 are finally separated from the boundary therebetween, by which the light guide element is produced. A treatment with a release agent, etc., are carried out at need according to the combinations of the light guide materials and molds in this case.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of return light to a semiconductor laser, by leading emitted light from a light emitting element being a light source, into an optical waveguide layer by a grating structure formed on the optical waveguide layer. CONSTITUTION:A light beam emitted from a semiconductor laser 104 goes into an optical waveguide layer 103 by a grating coupler 105, and propagated as a waveguide light 106. The waveguide light 106 is fetched to a space from the optical waveguide layer 103 by a grading coupler 107, and condensed to a recording medium surface 108. A reflected light from the recording medium 108 is led to an optical waveguide layer by a grating coupler 109, propagated, in a mode of waveguide light 110 and detected by a detector 111. A light absorbent 112 is embedded in a part of the optical waveguide layer 103 so that the waveguide light 106 is not superposed on the waveguide light 110. Plural pieces of detectors 111 are placed in a substrate, the waveguide light 110 which is reflected by the recording medium 108 and led to the optical waveguide layer 103 is distributed to each detector, and a reproducing signal and a servo-signal can be obtained.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the reproduction efficiency of the titled head by forming a magneto-resistance effect thin film in the angle sighting from the side surface of one magnetic flux guide to the side surface of the other magnetic flux guide and allowing all the magnetic flux from a recording medium to flow to the thin film. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-resistance effect thin film 106, a conductor thin film 107, from the first to the fourth insulating films 103, 105, 108 and 109 and soft magnetic films 102, 104 and 110 are formed on the substrate 101 of the magnetic head. A part between the magnetic films 104 and 110 forming the magnetic path of the head is removed and the magneto-resistance effect thin film 106 is arranged in the removed part. By such constitution of the magnetic path, all the reproduced magnetic flux flowing from the upper magnetic film 110 to the lower magnetic film 104 or, conversely, the reproduced magnetic flux flowing from the lower magnetic film 104 to the upper magnetic film 110 are allowed to flow toward the magneto-resistance effect thin film 106. Moreover, all the magnetic flux of the magnetic medium from the leading end 114 of the magnetic head is allowed to flow to the magneto-resistance effect thin film 106 and the reproduction efficiency is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce the number of off-specification products due to poor insulation by forming an insulating film of the laminate of an inorg. insulating film and an org. insulating film. CONSTITUTION:The layer insulating film is composed of the first layer con sisting of a coil 105, SiO2 106 on the coil 105 and a resist layer 107 and the second layer consisting of a coil 108, SiO2 109 on the coil 108 and a resist layer 111. A gap 110 between the lower magnetic pole 103 and the upper magnetic pole 104 at the leading end part of a magnetic head is formed by the two layers of SiO2 106 and 109 and the length of the gap is equivalent to the sum of the thicknesses of the two layers of SiO2. Consequently, the exposition of the stepped part of the coil is prevented and the insulation is secured by the stepped part of the coil even when the org. film of a resist, etc., is thin.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To use a C0 amorphous magnetic thin film having a large specific resistance, as a magnetic pole, and also to obtain a thin film magnetic head using an electrode having a small electrode, by forming a terminal to which a lead wire is brought to bonding, by other conductor thin film than a magnetic thin film. CONSTITUTION:Electrodes 1-1, 1-2 consist of the same material quality as that of coils 1-3, 1-4, and also the electrode and the coil are continued. As for a thin film magnetic head, its coil consists of a double layer structure, and the first layer of the coil and the second layer of the coil consist of three turns and two turns, respectively, and are joined by a coil joining part 1-5. A material quality of the coil is an alloy of Al and Cu, and its thickness is 2mum. In order to solder a lead wire 1-7 to the electrodes 1-1, 1-2, a pad 1-6 on which Au, Ni and Cr is laminated is provided on the electrodes 1-1, 1-2.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of a magnetic head by the synergetic effect between hardness and lubricity by forming a thin carbon film which includes diamond structure on a medium sliding surface. Further, ion gas is admitted into and ionized in the gaseous methane under a vacuum on the medium sliding surface 10 of a VTR head which has a ''Sendust''-made core 6 sandwiched between reinforcing glass cores 7 and 8 and has the sliding surface 10 on the side of the gap part 9 to form a carbon film 11 which includes diamond structure to 800Angstrom .

CONSTITUTION:The recording and reproducing core 21, erasing core 22, and nonmagnetic bases 23 and 24 are laminated; and the recording and reproducing core 21 uses the main magnetic pole exciting type head equipped with a thin layer 19 having high magnetic permeability and ferrite 25 and a coil is arranged at a position 32. The erasing core 22 uses the ring type head having the closed magnetic path of materials 26, 27, and 28 with high magnetic permeability and also having a gap 20, and a coil is arranged at a position 33. Thus, the recording and reproducing coil and erasing coil are at distance and the erasing core 22 has the closed magnetic path, so the leakage of magnetic flux from the cores is small and the influence upon the recording and reproducing core is ignored.
