Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain electret nonwoven fabric having high surface density of charge, bulkiness and low pressure loss by joining melt blown fibers transported by a fluid to specific short fibers and/or filament made into an unwoven state by air, blending and collecting the blended fibers in a specific electric field. CONSTITUTION:Melt blown fibers transported by a fluid are joined to short fibers and/or filament containing at least fibers having a lower melting point than that of the melt blown fibers and >=10 OMEGA.cm volume specific resistance made into an unwoven state by air and blended. Then the blended fibers are collected on a collecting device in a DC electric field having >=1KV/cm field strength as nonwoven fabric structure and made into an electret.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To easily and inexpensively form a desired clean space by forming a specified part of the total area including the wall area, ceiling area, and floor are consistuting a room or a box with an electret material. CONSTITUTION:A simple clean room 1 is used as an isolated space such as a warehouse for precision equipment not to be deposited with dust, a storage box, or a room for a contagious virus carrying patient. In this case, >=10% of the total area including the wall area, ceiling area, and floor area is formed with an electret material 2. To obtain good air cleanliness, 50-100% of the total area is preferably formed with the electret material 2. In addition, when the electret material 2 having >=50V surface potential is used, the dust, etc., in the remote air are more effectively adsorbed. PP, polycarbonate, etc., are appropriately used as the raw material.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To efficiently remove fine particles from a liquid having a small specific inductive capacity, by filtrating the liquid having a specific inductive capacity of not more than 10 through a filter medium being turned into electret. CONSTITUTION:Preferably, a material (e.g., polyester) having a volume resistivity of not less than 10 OMEGAcm is formed into a melt blow nonwoven fabric, which is turned into electret, to a filter medium by the electroelectret method. Of the various kinds of liquids such as operating oil and fuel, a liquid having a specific inductive capacity of not more than 10, for example, is filtrated through this filter medium. Fine particle in the liquid are then attracted to and retained by the fiber surface due to an electric force exerted by the electret filter medium on the surroundings, thereby attaining an extremely high filtration efficiency. This filter medium is also effective in removing fine particles below submicron order.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide strong electric action even at a position distant from a sheet by so luminating a fiber sheetlike material to be made an electret as to be disposed at the outermost layer between an application electrode and a ground that the difference of positive/negative charge amounts of the sheet is of a predetermined value or larger. CONSTITUTION:When a sheetlike material 2 made of fibrous structure is exposed with corona discharge of a DC high voltage between a discharge electrode 1 and a ground metal plate 4, and is made an electret, the element is homo- or hetero-polarized in a thicknesswise direction under the conditions of the material, state and application. In this case, a uniform polarization is generated by a normal current flowing in the sheet in the sheetlike element, but in the surface directly opposite to the application electrode and the surface directly opposite to the ground electrode become excess positive or negative charge by the injection of the charge from the electrode and of compensation charge from the ground electrode. Strong electric action occurs even at a position distant from the sheetlike material by setting the difference of the positive and negative charge amounts of the sheet to 2 x 10 coulomb 1cm .

Abstract: PURPOSE:To maintain charge stable for a long time by forming a heat resistant electret material of a material made by mixing at least one type selected from hindered amines, nitrogen-containing hindered phenyls, metallic salt hindered phenyls and phenol stabilizes with high molecular weight polymer, and specifying trap charge amount from a thermal stimulus removing polarizing current. CONSTITUTION:At least one type selected from hindered amines, nitrogen- containing hindered phenols, metallic salt hindered phenols and phenol stabilizers is mixed with high molecular weight polymer. The polymer preferably contains a material which has 10 OMEGAcm or more, and uses, for example, polypropylene. At least 0.1 part or more of stable mixture which has relatively large molecular weight and is not almost volatilized or decomposed by the heat at the time of heating (at approx. 250 deg.C) is mixed with 100 parts of the polymer. The electret characteristic of the polymer to which the above mixture is added exhibit particularly high thermal stability, 2.0X10 coulomb/cm or more of trap charge amount from a thermal stimulus removing polarizing current at 100 deg.C or higher, and small decrease in the trap charge amount even if it is used under severe conditions.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To collect toner with low voltage loss and high collecting efficiency by constituting the titled element of an electret fiber-like sheet having electrostatic charge on its surface and provided with an electric field structure orientating the polarized charge constituting the surface charge in the thickness direction. CONSTITUTION:Toner 2 stuck to the surface of a drum 1 is scraped by a fur brush 3, the dropped toner is collected by a cyclone 4 and small toner is collected by the filter element 5. The filter element 5 is constituted of the bag-like electret fiber-like sheet 7 and its fitting frame 8 and the sheet 7 has surface charge and its polarized charge is orientating in the sheet thickness direction. Non-woven fabric, waven fabric or paper are used for the sheet 7 and its surface charge density is preferably >=7X10 C/cm . Consequently, straying toner and other dust can be efficiently collected.
