Abstract:
Disclosed is a continuous process for separating or extracting proteins from a low grade mixture of a protein of interest, other proteins, impurities, and salts in a continuous simulated moving bed separation process. The invention provides for direct extraction of heme protein and plant protein from a crude mixture of such proteins, other proteins, impurities and salts using the chromatographic technique of simulated moving bed (SMB) continuous chromatography. The SMB process combines the steps of feed loading, adsorbent washing, product elution, adsorbent regeneration, and adsorbent equilibration. The novel strong anion exchange resin adsorbent is a quaternary amine cross-linked microcellulose wherein the microcellulose is cross-linked with epichlorohydrin and the quaternary amine is 2,3-epoxypropyltrimethyl-ammonium chloride which exhibits selective adsorption of proteins and complete regeneration. Purified protein separated in this manner may provide human health benefits by providing greater medicinal and nutrition opportunities from low quality protein sources.
Abstract:
To provide a method for recovering an acid of an anionic fluorinated emulsifier with a high yield from a basic ion exchange resin having a nonionic surfactant physically adsorbed thereon and having the anionic fluorinated emulsifier adsorbed thereon. A method for eluting and recovering an acid of an anionic fluorinated emulsifier from a basic ion exchange resin having a nonionic surfactant physically adsorbed thereon and having the anionic fluorinated emulsifier adsorbed thereon, which comprises a step (1) of bringing the basic ion exchange resin into contact with a water-soluble organic solvent and a step (2) of recovering the acid of the anionic fluorinated emulsifier from the basic ion exchange resin from which the ionic surfactant is eluted in the step (1).

Abstract:
A hydrogen purification device including a container, a first opening structure and a second opening structure is provided. The container has at least a filter material inside. The first opening structure is disposed in the container, wherein hydrogen-rich gas mixture flows into the container via the first opening structure so that purified hydrogen gas is generated by conducting a reaction between the hydrogen-rich gas mixture and the filter material. Besides, a second opening structure is disposed in the container, wherein the purified hydrogen gas flows away from the container via the second opening structure. A fuel processor having the hydrogen purification device is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for purifying and concentrating 68Ga isotope produced by the irradiation with an accelerated particle beam of a 68Zn target in solution. The process according to the invention allows for the production of pure and concentrated 68Ga isotope in hydrochloric acid solution. The present invention also relates to a disposable cassette suitable to perform the steps of purification and concentration of the process.
Abstract:
A process for the amelioration of acid mine drainage useful in shale hydrolyic fracturing operations for the production of natural gas involving the exchange of sulfate and chloride ions by an ion exchange resin so as to produce hydrochloric acid and water for use in hydrolyic fracturing operations from acid mine drainage.
Abstract:
To provide a method for recovering, from a liquid to be treated containing a fluorinated polymer and a fluorinated emulsifier, the fluorinated emulsifier easily and efficiently.A liquid to be treated containing a fluorinated polymer and a fluorinated emulsifier, and a strongly basic anion exchange resin having an ion exchange capacity of at most 1.0 eq/L and a water content of at least 60 mass %, are brought into contact with each other, so that the fluorinated emulsifier is adsorbed on the strongly basic anion exchange resin, whereby the fluorinated emulsifier is recovered from the liquid to be treated.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a novel adsorbent composition for recovering biomolecules from a fluid. The composition comprises positively and negatively charged microparticles in the form of ground particles. The adsorbent is particularly useful for purification of biomolecules from the cell culture.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of regenerating an ion exchange material loaded with chromate ions and nitrate ions in an ion exchange colunm, the method comprising subjecting the loaded ion exchange colunm to a regeneration sequence comprising the following steps: (i) passing a first salt solution through the colunm forming a first effluent solution; (ii) passing a second salt solution through the colunm to at least partially remove the chromate ions from the colunm forming a second effluent solution, wherein the, second salt solution has a higher salt concentration than the first salt solution; (iii) passing a third salt solution through the colunm to at least partially remove nitrate ions from the colunm forming a third effluent solution, wherein the third salt solution has a salt concentration higher than the second salt solution.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are disclosed for extracting a plurality of materials from a solution. These include a plurality of extraction devices. The extraction devices use a resin suspended above at least one screen, and the resin is used to extract at least one material from a fluid. A liquid is forced through the plurality of extraction devices and a separate material is extracted in each of the extraction devices. The resin is selected for each of the extraction devices and is based upon the material for which that extraction device is designed to remove from the fluid. Each of the extraction devices operate in series to remove at least one material from the fluid.
