    Abstract: The present invention relates to a sheet (1, 2) of absorbent paper, in particular made of cellulose cotton and of a specific surface weight between 10 and 40 g/m2, comprising a first embossed zone such as is provided by embossing between an undeforming cylinder (A12) fitted with protrusions and a cylinder fitted with a resilient cladding (C) in such manner that the sheet (1, 2) comprises on one side in particular frustoconical salients (120, 110) of which the tops are situated substantially in one plane.     Abstract: A sheet of paper, in particular for a sanitary paper, consists of at least one ply of absorbent, creped paper of a specific surface weight between 12-35 g/m.sup.2 evincing first and second protrusions respectively (10, 2) respectively arrayed in a first and second pattern.     Abstract: Cellulosic webs can be embossed using an extended nip structure with embossing means in a controlled nip dwell zone. Single and multiply wipes and towels produced by plying together two or more such webs can be embossed. Webs having common caliper and basis weight can be processed using the extended nip structure with an appropriate embossing means. The tendency of the embossed relief to relax and disappear after processing can be substantially alleviated by controlling dwell time to ensure reliable embossing.
