Abstract:
Provided is a water recovery system having a simple structure which is capable of treating water to be treated in a confined space such as a nuclear shelter or a space station. The wastewater treatment system includes a cation-exchange device 1 in which water to be treated, such as wastewater originating in a space station or the like, water discharged by the human body, water produced by condensing water vapor contained in the air, is directly introduced to a cation-exchange resin and thereby treated by cation exchange; a diamond-electrode electrolysis device 2 in which organic substances, urea, and other nitrogen compounds contained in water discharged from the cation-exchange device 1 are decomposed; a catalytic decomposition device 3 in which the residual organic component is brought into contact with a catalyst to be decomposed; an electrodialysis device 4 in which water discharged from the catalytic decomposition device 3 is treated by electrodialysis to produce desalted water as well as an acid and an alkali; and a mineral adding device 5 in which a mineral is added to the desalted water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of remineralization and correction of pH for water produced by a fuel cell (P) on board an aircraft, noteworthy in that it consists in diverting part of the water (E1) produced by the cell to at least one treatment tank (200) containing a saturation reagent and in mixing the flow of treated water (E2) issuing from the treatment tank (200) with the undiverted flow of water (E3) so as to obtain water (E5) with the desired mineralization and/or pH. The invention also relates to devices making it possible to implement said method.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a waste water filtering system (2) for a transportation vehicle using a sanitary vacuum system having a connection with a waste water storage tank (1) into which waste water is conducted, said waste water storage tank (1) having a connection with the waste water filtering system (2). The waste water filtering system (2) comprises a filter (3), means for circulating waste water (8) between the waste water storage tank (1) and the waste water filtering system (2) and through the filter (3), and mechanical means for cleaning (4) the filter (3) comprising a cleaning element (5) and a collecting element (6).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus and method for the treatment of water and, in particular, an apparatus and method which may be applied to fluids such as grey water to be treated prior to discharge. The invention is intended for particular use on marine vessels such as house boats to treat grey water which at present is discharged untreated.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering water has an interface and a filtration/purification canister removably mountable thereon. Connecting the canister to the interface automatically opens a check valve permitting water to flow from the interface into and through the canister, and then back to and through the interface to an outlet port. Disconnecting the canister from the interface automatically closes the check valve, stopping the flow of water. The outlet port may be directly connected to an appliance that uses water, eliminating possible contamination that may occur when water is brought indirectly form the outlet port to the appliance. A flapper valve is provided in the canister preventing back flow of fluid from the inlet port of the canister when the canister is not mounted on the interface. The flapper valve also is provided with an actuating means to automatically open the flapper valve when the canister is mounted on the interface.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the treatment of oil-containing marine wastewaters and particularly to a method and arrangement for the treatment of bilge waters. The arrangement of the invention comprises a separating tank (1, 4), a pre-heating block (2) and a centrifugal separator (3), surface oil and bottom deposit being separated from the bilge water in the separating tank (1, 4); the bilge water being pre-heated in the pre-heating block (2); and oil and sludge being centrifugally separated from the bilge water in the centrifugal separator (3). The solution of the invention allows bilge water treatment to be made environmentally friendlier.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering and/or purifying and/or conditioning a fluid comprises a pressure vessel having an inlet for introducing fluid into the pressure vessel and an outlet for removing fluid from the pressure vessel, filtering medium positioned inside the pressure vessel for filtering and/or purifying and/or conditioning fluid, and a shell surrounding the pressure vessel, the shell having sufficient anti-flammability properties to be resistant against fire to protect the pressure vessel from fire.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for clarifying wastewater, preferably on ships, having the following features: a tank (10) for raw water connected to a pressure vessel (16) by means of a macerator (12) and a feed pump (14); the pressure vessel (16) is connected to a source of compressed air such that the raw water in the tank is saturated with air; the pressure vessel (16) is connected by means of a line to an expansion tank (26) in which floatation tailings and clarified water are separated from each other; an expansion valve (26b) is connected in the line, and a metering pump (28) for coagulating agents is connected to the line between the expansion valve (26b) and the expansion tank (26).
