Abstract:
A system and method is disclosed to provide recommendations to a wireless device, based on stored bookmark/short-cut data. When a wireless device accesses services, data pertaining to the service access, along with any context related information is transmitted within the wireless device, or to a remote server. The data is processed in conjunction with bookmarks/short-cuts specified within the device, and are organized and presented to the wireless device in accordance with preference instructions specified within the wireless device.
Abstract:
A method and a mobile unit for allocating speech items to mobile units communicating on a direct mode channel. In the method, a transmission of a first mobile unit is sent during the speech item of that mobile unit on the direct mode channel; a second mobile unit takes the speaking turn; and the transmission of the second mobile unit is sent during the speech item of the second mobile unit on the direct mode channel. The mobile units communicating on the direct mode channel are directed to operate in such a way that the first mobile unit is given the priority to start a speech item or request a speaking turn after the termination of the speech item of the second mobile unit before the other mobile units communicating on the direct mode channel.
Abstract:
A network termination unit for connection to a telephone line at a predetermined demarcation point for sequentially simulating a plurality of fault conditions to allow a diagnostic routine to be performed on the telephone line at a remote location from the demarcation point. The network termination unit comprises a plurality of semi-conductor switches electrically connected to conductors of the telephone line to establish a network of electrical paths capable of altering the electrical condition of the telephone line when caused to assume a state of conduction. A logic module causes the switches to assume either a closed or an opened condition in accordance with a predetermined sequence established by a hard-wired program.
Abstract:
A method for realizing a group call in a digital radio network wherein a plurality of mobile subscribers participating in the group call roam within the area of at least one base station. Subscribers participating in the group call are guided one by one to talk on the same radio channel. To be able to handle the traffic in a controlled manner at all times without the subscribers congesting the radio channel by talking simultaneously, the base station is informed of the subscriber's desire to speak after the respective subscriber has indicated his or her desire to speak with predetermined signalling, the next speaker is selected at the base station on the basis of a predetermined algorithm, and the base station transmits an indication of a turn to speak to the subscriber which at the time is the next speaker.

Abstract:
A communication system and method for routing communications can include a communication device that is configured to route a communication connection based on empirical data relating to an attempted communication. For instance, in some embodiments the device of a communication system can be configured to utilize stored and classified empirical data for automatically determining a subject of an attempted communication made by a user via the user's communication terminal and dependencies the user for that attempted communication may have on a callee for use in establishing a connection for the caller based on the determined dependencies and determined subject of the attempted communication. Information regarding the determined subject of the communication attempt can be based on the stored empirical data. The attempted communication can also be rerouted to another user based on the empirical communication data if that attempted communication is not established within a pre-selected time period.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method in a wireless device provide for reestablishing a dropped call, wherein a wireless device determines a wireless device callback priority, wherein the wireless device callback priority is relative to a second communication device callback priority associated with a second communication device, wherein the wireless device and the second communication device are established in a communication session. A dropped call between the wireless device and the second communication device is detected. In response to detecting the dropped call, and the wireless device callback priority being higher than the second communication device callback priority, the wireless device calls back the second communication device. If, during the calling back, a match between a callback identifier and an incoming caller identifier of an incoming call is detected, the calling back is terminated, and the incoming call is answered.
