Abstract:
A method and apparatus for printing an image on a large surface area or walkway provides for imagewise marking of the surface with a color marking solution, to form a visible image on the surface during an image recording mode of a marking engine. The marking engine includes a scanner and the marking engine moves along the surface and operates the scanner to sense a crude image upon the surface and generates data signals representing the crude image or boundaries defined by the crude image scanned. In response to data signals the marking engine is operated to print an enhanced image of the crude image and/or to color the crude image so that the printing overlies the crude image.
Abstract:
This invention is directed toward a system and method for scanning a scene or object such as a whiteboard, paper document or similar item. More specifically, the invention is directed toward a system and method for obtaining a high-resolution image of a whiteboard or other object with a low-resolution camera. The system and method of the invention captures either a set of snapshots with overlap or a continuous video sequence, and then stitches them automatically into a single high-resolution image. The stitched image can finally be exported to other image processing systems and methods for further enhancement.
Abstract:
A whiteboard view camera, which in one embodiment is mounted on a boom, which is fixed above the whiteboard. However, the whiteboard view camera can also be wall or table mounted. The whiteboard view camera differs from an ordinary camera by allowing the lens to tilt with respect to the sensor plane, and shift with respect to the central ray. When the tilt angle null is zero, then the resolution of whiteboard is uniform (e.g., the top and bottom of the whiteboard have the same resolution). In addition, the focus plane is equal to the whiteboard plane, so depth of field issues are not a problem (e.g., a large aperture can be used). Hence, no image noise is introduced. A key contribution of the whiteboard view camera configuration according to the invention is the use of a view camera to capture whiteboard images at uniform resolutions. One embodiment of the whiteboard view camera employs a microphone array of the invention and uses a computer to optimize the image data and audio signals.
Abstract:
A system and method for presenting and capturing images on a presentation board are described. More particularly, embodiments of the present invention provide a projector adapted to display one or more images onto a surface and a camera adapted to capture the one or more images from the surface. Also provided is an interface electronics coupled to the projector and to the camera. The interface electronics is adapted to feed the projector with the one or more images and adapted to process the one or more images from the camera. Also a user can control the presentation system by modifying the one or more images on the surface.
Abstract:
An optical scanner suitable for scanning a vertical object. The optical scanner has a scanning body, a focusing device and a scanning module. The scanning body has a transparent window, the focusing device has an arm, a reflective mirror and a lens. One end of the arm is coupled to the scanning body, and the reflecting mirror and the lens are disposed on the arm. The scanning module is disposed in the scanning body with a shell, a lens and an optical sensor. The shell has a light cone opening, and the lens and optical sensor are disposed within the shell. The image of the vertical object is focused by the focusing device on the transparent window, incident to the scanning module via the light cone opening, and refracted by the lens to form an image on the optical sensor.
Abstract:
The image is rendered on a conventional image writing surface such as a whiteboard or a portable writing pad device. The image is captured by a scanner or a CCD camera, and the digitized image data is analyzed for automatically generating separate image objects such as text areas, picture areas and so on. These image objects are now displayed for the user to edit information. For example, the user defines relational links between images and or image objects. Based upon the edited information, a document is generated for later retrieval and information dissemination.
Abstract:
A document scanning apparatus which is capable of scanning an oversized document. In one embodiment the document scanning apparatus includes a base unit, an optical scanning device located within the base unit, and a cover freely removable from the base unit. The apparatus further includes a document positioning device configured to move a document with respect to the optical scanning device when the document is positioned between the base unit and the cover.
Abstract:
An image display device preferably used for educational applications is disclosed. In the image display device, an instructor gives a lecture while seeing an original document without being disturbed by any element of the device. In addition, a video camera, which is detachably attached to the camera mount, may be tilted to the left or right or tilted upward or downward so that it is not required to move the original document when the left, right, upper or lower side of the document has to be picked up by the camera. The above display device also includes a means used as either a whiteboard or an OHP-filmed image revealing panel. The device thus improves educational effect when it is used for educational applications. The device is not expensive thus being widely used for educational applications without forcing excessive costs on the owner.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for receiving document images including portions linked to one or more electronic addresses. The linked portion of the document is identified using a predetermined visual attribute, such as bold-face text, or delimiters to mark the portion. The document image is then transmitted using, e.g., existing apparatus for transmitting images, such as a facsimile machine. An electronic address associated with the identified portion of the document is also transmitted using existing techniques, such as by touch-tone telephone. The address may be a voice telephone number, facsimile telephone number, World Wide Web address, or any other address with which communication can be established. At the receiving end, both the document image and electronic address are received. Pattern matching is performed on the document image to identify the portion with the predetermined attribute as a linked portion. The received electronic address is then correlated with the linked portion. When the document image is displayed on, e.g., a computer screen, the linked portion is visually identified so that the recipient can access the electronic address by, e.g., clicking on the portion using a mouse. Communication may then be initiated by the recipient with the entity associated with the electronic address.
Abstract:
An image pickup printing device wherein images such as characters or diagrams written on a board or the like are made incident through a lens, the incidental images are monitored by a view-finder, the thus-monitored images are converted into the information by a one-dimensional image sensor, and the images are printed out by a printer based on informations obtained by the one-dimensional image sensor.
