    Abstract: Microphones arranged in an array shape along a longitudinal direction are respectively formed in both the longitudinal side surfaces of a housing 2 with substantially an elongated rectangular parallelepiped shape, and speakers arranged in an array shape along the longitudinal direction are formed in a lower surface. The speaker array forms sound emission beams based on sound emission directivity set according to a conference environment. On the other hand, when the microphone array forms sound collection beams by sound collection signals collected, a talker direction is detected from these beams and an output sound signal corresponding to this direction is formed and also is reflected on setting of the sound emission directivity. Also, when there are plural input sound signals, the sound emission directivity is set according to a use situation of the plural input sound signals.

    Abstract: Wind noise reduction in microphone signals. A first microphone signal is obtained from a first omnidirectional microphone and, contemporaneously, a second microphone signal is obtained from a second omnidirectional microphone. The first and second microphone signals are mixed to produce an output signal. Mixing involves weighting the first and second microphone signals by respective first and second signal weights to produce respective first and second weighted microphone signals, and summing the first and second weighted microphone signals together to produce the output signal. The first and second signal weights are calculated to minimize the power of the output signal.

    Abstract: In certain embodiments, an article of manufacture, such as a cell phone, has a device body with a non-spheroidal shape, such as a parallelepiped, and microphones configured at different locations on the device body. A signal processing system processes the microphone signals to generate a plurality of different output beampatterns in at least two non-parallel directions, wherein, in generating at least one of the output beampatterns, the signal processing system takes into account effects of the device body on the incoming acoustic signal. Four or more microphones can be used to generate B format output beampatterns, such as three dipole beampatterns and an omnidirectional beampattern.
