Abstract: A secure point of sale imageable substrate is disclosed comprising a heat sensitive recording material for recording confidential information. The heat sensitive recording material comprises a heat transmissive optically opaque paper support (1), a heat sensitive imaging layer (2) coated on the paper support, a removable cover sheet (4), and a transparent layer or sheet (3) positioned between the heat sensitive layer (2) and the removeable cover sheet (4). A method for recording confidential information using such a secure point of sale imageable substrate is also disclosed.

Abstract: An insulated beverage or food container or sleeve is produced with a foam layer disposed on an inner surface of a paper stock. A polymer shrink film layer is arranged in a position along an inside surface of the beverage container. The foam layer is sandwiched between the polymer shrink film layer and the paper stock and decreases the energy transfer between the beverage and the user's hands allowing the user to hold onto the container for an extended period of time without causing user discomfort or pain. The polymer shrink film layer is produced from a shrink film polymer having a percent shrink in the range of 30% or less, and more particularly a percent shrink range of 5 to 10%.

Abstract: A web processor includes a support for supporting a movable web to form a concave trough along a path having a longitudinal axis. A rotatable element is provided which includes a beam redirecting device for redirecting an incident beam of radiation to produce a resultant beam directed substantially orthogonally to the axis of rotation of the rotatable element. The rotatable element includes at least one lens for focussing the resultant beam to produce a focus point on the path. The path is configured such that rotation of the rotatable element locates the focus point on a line non-parallel to the longitudinal axis of the concave trough. In a method for treating a web, a movable web is formed into a concave trough having a longitudinal axis. An incident beam of radiation is directed to a beam redirecting device on a rotatable element to produce a resultant beam of radiation directed substantially orthogonally to an axis of rotation of the rotatable element. The resultant beam is focussed to produce a focus point on the concave trough. The web is moved in a direction along the longitudinal axis while rotating the rotatable element to locate the focus point on a line across the web, with a path of travel of the focus point being non-parallel to the longitudinal axis of the concave trough. A web is scored, marked, perforated or cut by the above method.

Abstract: Thermally-responsive record material comprises a substrate, a binder, a chromogenic material, an electron-accepting color developer which reacts with said chromogenic material to form a color, and a color-stabilizing resin.
