Abstract: 안전벨트가 결코 안전하지만은 안다는 것은 대부분의 작업자들은 인지하고 있다.
추락 할 때 속도에 의해 몸무게의 배가되는 충격이 신체에 미친다.
이를 방지하고자 팔과 다리에 모두 끼우는 그네식 안전벨트로 충격을 분산시키지만 그 충격 또한 만만치 않다.
하지만 이보다 더 큰 문제는 추락 후 양옆의 구조물과의 충돌이다.
작업을 하다보면 작업자의 몸과 일직선이 되도록 안전벨트를 체결하기가 어렵다.
마땅히 체결 할 곳이 없을 뿐 아니라, 설사 있다 한들 작업하며 움직이기 때문에 작업중 작업자의 몸과 안전벨트가 일직선이 되는 것은 보기 어려운 일이다.
그러므로 추락하게 되면 로프는 좌우로 흔들릴 수 밖에 없고, 대부분의 작업이 크고 작은 구조물속에서 이루어지기 때문에 추락 후 몸무게의 배가되는 하중으로 좌우의 구조물과 부딪힌다면 구조물의 종류를 불문하고 중대재해로 이어질 수 밖에 없다
이러한 문제점에 대처하기 위하여 탄성을 억제한 스프링으로 추락 후 발생하는 충격의 대부분을 흡수만하는 안전벨트 완충장치를 개발하게 되었다.-
