    Abstract: A flameproofed thermoplastic molding material consists of A. a thermoplastic resin containing a vinylaromatic monomer and furthermore contains B. from 0 to 100 parts by weight of an elastomer having a glass transition temperature Tg 0 DEG C., as an impact modifier, C. from 2 to 50 parts by weight of a halogen-containing organic compound (flameproofing agent), D. from 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of a compound containing a metal or non-metal (synergistic agent) and E. from 5 to 50 parts by weight of a novolak (phenol/aldehyde resin). The novolak is obtained from an aldehyde of the formula (I) R1-CHO (I) where R1 is H, C1-C10-alkyl, cycloalkyl, C6-C12-aryl or omega -aryl-C1-C3-alkyl, and a mixture of phenols, and this mixture contains two or more monosubstituted phenols and the substituents can be alkyl of 1 to 8 carbon atoms or CN. The molding material is used for the production of flameproofed moldings.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a thermoplastic moulding composition containing a polycarbonate A and a mixture B of two different copolymers BI and BII, of which BI is present in a proportion of 5 to 95 % by weight, based on B, and is built up from bI1) from 99 to 50 % by weight, based on BI of styrene and/or a ring-alkylated styrene derivative, bI2) from 1 to 50 % of maleic anhydride and BII makes up a proportion of from 95 to 5 % by weight, based on B. The copolymer BII is built up from bII1) from 99 to 50 % by weight, based on BII of styrene and/or a ring-alkylated styrene derivative, bII2) from 1 to 50 % by weight, based on BII, of acrylonitrile, and the proportions by weight of the monomers building up the copolymers BI and BII are in the range 1.38 >/= (bII2/bI2) >/= 0.72. The moulding composition may contain, based on 100 parts B, from 1 to 50 parts of a graft copolymer C and furthermore conventional additives, and is used for the production of mouldings.
