Abstract: Disclosed herein are settable compositions and methods of using settable compositions in a wellbore. In one embodiment a method of introducing a settable composition into a wellbore is described. The method comprises providing a settable composition comprising pumice, hydrated lime, a set retarder, and water. Introducing the settable composition into a wellbore. Allowing the settable composition to remain static in the wellbore, wherein the settable composition remains in a pumpable fluid state for a period of about 1 day or longer while static in the wellbore.

A method of displacing a fluid in a wellbore comprising: introducing a spacer fluid comprising a set-delayed cement composition into a wellbore such that the spacer fluid displaces one or more prior fluids from the wellbore, and wherein the set-delayed cement composition comprises: pumice, hydrated lime, a set retarder, and water.

Abstract: A method for reducing lost circulation in a subterranean formation. The method includes providing a treatment fluid comprising a base fluid and a lost circulation material comprising cane ash. The treatment fluid is introduced into a wellbore within the subterranean formation such that at least a portion of the cane ash bridges openings in the subterranean formation to reduce loss of fluid circulation into the subterranean formation.

Abstract: A method of treating a subterranean formation comprising: introducing a first cement composition into the subterranean formation, wherein the first cement composition comprises: (A) a first aluminate cement; and (B) a base fluid; simultaneously introducing a second cement composition into the subterranean formation, wherein the second cement composition comprises: (A) a second cement consisting of cement or a pozzolan; and (B) a base fluid, wherein at least a portion of the first and second cement compositions mix together after introduction into the subterranean formation to form a mixed cement composition, and wherein at least some of the first and second cement compositions or at least some of the mixed cement composition enters into a highly-permeable area located within the subterranean formation; and allowing the mixed cement composition to set. The base fluid can be an aqueous liquid or a hydrocarbon liquid.
