The base, 46, and elongate member, 50, have a substantially hollow interior, 52, extending from a first end to a second end, so as to form a shell. A collector element, 70, is positioned within the hollow interior, 52. The collector element, 70, has a magnetic element, 76, positioned adjacent the second end and a flange, 78, positioned near the first end. The collector element, 70, is configured to move between a first position and a second position to selectively demagnetize the chip collector body, 40. An axial biasing member, 64, is positioned between the flange, 78, of the collector element, 70, and a rigid surface, The axial biasing member, 64, is configured to biais the collector element, 70, into the first position.

An air filtration system includable in and for HVAC equipment includes one or more intense field dielectric filter units and a field charging unit retained in a support structure or cabinet by a removable door which includes control circuitry and contactors engageable with corresponding contact members on a filter unit and the field charging unit for supplying high voltage DC potential to the respective units. Each filter unit includes a filter core comprising a stacked array of filter elements formed of dielectric sheets interconnected by elongated spaced apart ribs forming flow passages. The field charging unit and the filter units are removable from the support or cabinet for cleaning or replacement by opening or removing the door. An interlock switch and a field shorting mechanism are actuated during servicing or replacement of the system components.

The device (100) comprises a cap (4) comprising a non-magnetic tube (6) having a proximal end provided with an opening for the insertion of the bar magnet (3) into the tube (6) and a closed distal end, the tube (6) being capable of covering the bar magnet (3) when the bar magnet (3) is inserted into the tube (6). The device (100) further includes means capable of ensuring retention between the cap (4) and the bar magnet (3) when the bar magnet (3) is inserted into the tube (6), extraction means (5) provided with an opening capable of ensuring insertion of the tube (6) into the extraction means (5), the extraction means (5) being capable of covering the tube (6) when the tube (6) is inserted into the extraction means (5) and of receiving the particles (20) trapped on the tube (6) when the bar magnet (3) is withdrawn from the tube (6), and means capable of ensuring retention between the extraction means (5) and the tube (6).

A cleanout system and method for removal of metal debris from a fluid flow, such a flow of re-circulated drilling mud employs one or more magnetic unit positioned in the path of the fluid for collecting metal particles from the flow. The magnetic unit has a removable magnet core positioned in a non-magnetic sleeve. When the core is removed from the sleeve the attracted metal particles are allowed to drop from the sleeve under gravity to facilitate their collection and disposal. A fluid deflector is positioned upstream from each magnetic unit, protecting the magnetic unit from direct impact by the strong flow. The magnetic units are allowed to pivot from side-to-side and adjust their position in the flow.
