Abstract:
This invention relates to perfluoroalkyl group terminated urethanes, thiourethanes and ureas of the general formula: (R-X-CONH)mA where m is 1, 2, or 3, R is Rf-E and optionally R1 with the proviso that at least one R is Rf-E, Rf is a perfluoroalkyl group, R1 is a hydrocarbon group, E is a linkage group, X is -O-, -S-, -NHR2- and R2 is H or lower alkyl and A is RfE or R1 if m is 1 and a divalent or trivalent linkage group if m is 2 or 3 respectively. Compounds of this general formula are useful as solid lubricants or as additives for waxes and resins providing lubricating properties.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a threaded portion of a tubular element for a threaded tubular connection having an axis of revolution, the portion comprising a threading extending over its outer or inner peripheral surface, and a first sealing surface on the peripheral surface, the first sealing surface being capable of producing metal-metal interference with a corresponding second sealing surface belonging to a complementary threaded portion. The threading and the first sealing surface are coated with a metallic anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, the metallic anti-galling layer being at least partially coated with a lubricant layer comprising a resin and a dry solid lubricant powder dispersed in the resin.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A solid lubricant and composition useful for lubricating the flanges of locomotive wheels, railcar wheels, rail track and in applications where it is desirable to reduce friction when metal contacts metal. The solid lubricant having from about twenty-five percent to about seventy percent by volume of a polymeric carrier, about five to seventy-five percent by volume of organic and inorganic extreme pressure additives, about zero to twenty percent by volume synthetic extreme pressure anti-wear liquid oil, and about zero to one percent by volume optical brightener.
Abstract:
According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for the plastic working of metals that does not require a phosphate undercoating, is waterborne, requires only a simple application process of immersion or spraying followed by drying, and provides an excellent lubricating performance comprises synthetic resin, water-soluble inorganic salt, and water. The weight ratio of the content of salt to that of synthetic resin is from 0.25:1 to 9:1. This composition can also contain liquid and/or solid lubricating agent(s) and extreme pressure additive.
Abstract:
Low bleed silicone grease compositions are prepared by blending high viscosity silicone oils with filler materials and/or silicone elastomers. Greases comprise three main types: I) grease comprising high viscosity silicone oil and filler material, II) grease comprising high viscosity silicone oil and silicone elastomer, and III) grease comprising high molecular weight silicone oil and filler material and silicone elastomer.
Abstract:
A metal forming lubricant suitable for extreme condition use is formulated to contain one or more differential solid lubricants composed of a high melt temperature, substantially halogen-free thermoplastic in addition to conventional lubricants such as organic phosphate esters and natural and synthetic polymer waxes. The lubricants offer superior performance while resisting the tendency to foul metal working dies with gummy deposits. Conductive films may be prepared by including from 0.01 weight percent to about 2.5 weight percent conductive carbon black in the formulation.
Abstract:
A water-based release agent comprises: 30-99 % total solids by weight chemically exfoliated vermiculite, and 1-70 % total solids by weight of a plate-like filler. Such release agents are particularly suitable for use with gaskets. An anisotropic release agent is formed from which it is easy to release other materials.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to substances used for lubricating friction surfaces of the parts forming friction units of various mechanisms and to apparatuses for applying the mentioned substances to friction surfaces. Components of a lubricant are taken in the following proportion, by wt.%: binding agent 10.0 - 90.0 solvent 3.0 - 40.0, anti-frictional additive 2.0 - 50.0, film-forming adhesive additive 2.0 - 55.0. An apparatus for applying a lubricant to a friction surface comprises a shell-shaped member mounted within a housing so as to advance towards a surface being lubricated, an inner space of the shell-shaped member being filled with a lubricant and open to the surface being lubricated, and means for urging an edge of the shell-shaped member to the friction surface being lubricated, an actuating unit of the urging means being connected with a bottom of the shell-shaped member and the wall of the shell-shaped member being made of a material capable of wearing out by friction of the shell-shaped member against the friction surface being lubricated.
