Abstract:
Improved composite bearings are provided employing cold forming and sintering techniques. Improvements in compositions for impregnating porous layers of composite bearings are provided comprising lead or lead alloy, perfluorinated polymer, particulate thermoplastic polymer and clay in particular proportions. When such materials are formed into bearings and subsequently sintered, improved resistance to stripping and wear is provided.
Abstract:
A lubricant composition for thread or bearing surface operated at high temperature and stress load conditions, a thixotropic mixture including a Jojoba base vehicle, metallic and non-metallic particulates, a metallic component for wetting the stressed thread or bearing surfaces, together with non-metallic particulates that coat the stressed surfaces and other metallic particulate solids also wet by the metallic component. The lubricating vehicle retains the composition in place under extremely high temperatures without gassing off so that the particulate elements function properly to permit relative sliding motion of the stressed surfaces.
Abstract:
A part is made of a material comprising less than 90% by weight of a polymer selected from the group consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene, polyurethane, nitrile, fluoroelastomer, and polyphenylene sulfide; and more than 10% by weight of another material, comprising about 15% to 60% by volume of grains of titanium carbide dispersed through a metal matrix.
Abstract:
A preapplied, non-migratory, anti-galling composition, capable of retaining excellent lubricating properties up to temperatures of about 1200.degree. F. for an extended period of time, comprising an aqueous dispersion of graphite powder or metal powder, or both, in a polymeric binder. The composition is especially useful for providing a lubricating agent for metallic threaded objects to be subjected to high temperatures.
Abstract:
A thread sealing and lubricating composition which can be employed at elevated temperatures without carburization of stainless steel fittings is disclosed. The composition contains 8-25% finely divided copper flakes, 5-20% finely divided aluminum particles, and 4-15% non-metallic, non-carbon powder suspended in a petroleum vehicle. The preferred composition contains 10% copper flakes, 5% aluminum powder, 5% non-metallic powder and 80% viscous petroleum vehicle.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a threaded tubular connection for drilling or operating hydrocarbon wells, comprising a portion of a tubular element with a male end having an axis of revolution and provided with a first threading extending about the axis of revolution, said male end portion being complementary with a portion of a tubular element with a female end having an axis of revolution and provided with a second threading extending about the axis of revolution, said male and female end portions being capable of being connected by makeup, each of the male and female end portions further comprising a sealing surface with a metal-metal interference, wherein the threading and the sealing surface of one of the two, male or female, end portions are coated with a first metallic anti-corrosion and anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, said first metallic anti-corrosion and anti-galling layer being coated with a first passivation layer, and the complementary threading and sealing surface of the male or female end are coated with a second metallic anti-galling layer wherein zinc (Zn) is the major element by weight, the second metallic anti-galling layer being at least partially coated with a lubricant layer comprising a resin and a dry solid lubricant powder dispersed in said resin.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a metal powder composition for making compacted parts, the metal powder composition comprising (i) sponge iron particles or sponge iron-based particles, and (ii) a lubricant comprising at least two different fatty acid amides.
