Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for the production of a cooling lubricant emulsion mixed with water, used for metal cutting, whereby a) 2-15 parts by weight of a water-miscible concentrate of a coolling lubricant emulsion are mixed with 98-85 parts by weight of water, so as to obtain a mixture comprising 100 parts by weight, and then b) one disperses 1-14 parts by weight of a non water-miscible native-based cutting oil are dispersed, with strong shearing action into mixture a). The cutting oil is preferably chosen from oxidation-stabilized fatty acid glycerides in the form of triesters with three fatty acids with 14-22 C-atoms per fatty acid, and oxidation-stabilized diesters with two fatty acids with 12-22 C-atoms per fatty acid. The invention further concerns a cooling lubricant emulsion that can be produced by this method, and its use for metal cutting.

The invention is a liquid composition of matter useful as a metal working lubricant. The composition comprises a primary lubricity component, such as a polyether or polyether ester, and dissolved salts of carboxylic acids. The composition preferably contains not more than 0.2 percent of any element except carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, alkaline earth metals, alkali metals, inorganically bonded halogens, inorganically bonded nitrogen, inorganically bonded sulfur, and inorganically bonded phosphorus.

The invention relates to the use of at least one selected polyhydroxy compound in lubricant formulations and the use of chain lubricants which contain at least 20 percent by weight of a selected polyhydroxy compound, for reducing the friction between transported goods and transport installations. The invention also relates to a lubricant which contains further additives in addition to the polyhydroxy compounds.

A metal-working water or a metal-working composition which has excellent cooling and lubricating properties and does not exert a harmful influence on the environment. A metal-working water containing sodium ion and one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of fluoride ion, hydrogencarbonate ion and silicon and being adjusted to pH 6.0 to pH 10 can be used as a substitute for a conventional cutting oil. A metal-working composition including a metal-working water with such additive as a rust-preventive agent and being adjusted to pH 6.0 to pH 10 can also be used.

The present invention relates to a method for mechanically working of cobalt-containing metals or performing metalworking with a tool made of a metal containing cobalt. The method is carried out in the presence of an aqueous cooling lubricant containing a combination of an alkanolamine, a mono- or diphosphate ester and a mono- or dicarboxylic acid. The combination is capable of reducing both the release of cobalt ions and the corrosion of iron. In addition it also contributes essentially to the lubrication.

Alkaline lubricants for use with glass, aluminum and PET containers and other articles of manufacture are prepared from water-soluble amines. Fatty acid lubricants prepared herefrom are rendered highly dilutable by employing myristic acid as at least a portion of the fatty acid component thereof. Synthetic diamine lubricants are prepared by using the water soluble amines as the hydrotrope for the synthetic diamine, without the neutralization thereof.
