Abstract:
A carpet whose face yarn includes a bulked continuous filament face yarn wherein said yarn comprises: a) a bundle of drawn and crimped bi-component filaments, b) each filament consisting essentially of an outer lengthwise sheath of Nylon surrounding a core of polymeric material.
Abstract:
A needle punched carpet is provided, which is obtained by needle-punching mixed fibers of 25 to 90% by weight of hotmelt-adhesive, conjugated staple fibers obtained by subjecting a first component of polypropylene and a second component of a copolymer and/or a terpolymer of olefins composed mainly of propylene having a m.p. lower by 20°C or more, than that of the first component, to conjugate spinning in side-by-side or sheath-and-core form so that the second component can occupy the greater part of the fiber surface, with 75 to 10% by weight of polypropylene staple fibers, followed by heat-treating the resulting material at a temperature of the m.p. or higher of the second component and lower than the m.p. of the first component, the carpart having a sufficient tensile strength of 60 kg/5 cm or higher and being lightweight and cheap, and use of conventional primary backing cloth, laminating material or latex being omitted in its preparation and further, its waste being able to be recycle.
Abstract:
A tufted carpet having a backing which has thereon a plurality of first areas of tufts of fine denier fibers and a plurality of second areas of tufts of at least one looped, uncrimped, coarse denier fiber. Preferred patterns for the areas of tufts are alternating stripes or a checkerboard.
Abstract:
A primary carpet backing is provided comprising at least one non-woven layer, wherein the at least one non-woven layer comprises fibers which contact one another at contact zones, wherein the fibers comprise i) first fibers which are manufactured from a first fiber forming polymer, and second fibers which are manufactured from a second fiber forming polymer, or ii) multicomponent fibers which comprise at least a first component manufactured from a first component forming polymer and at least a second component manufactured from a second component forming polymer, characterized in that both the first fiber forming polymer and the first component forming polymer is at least one polyamide, both the second fiber forming polymer and the second component forming polymer is at least one bonding polymer, the first fibers are melt bonded at their contact zones with the second fibers by a solidified melt, or the multicomponent fibers are melt bonded at their contact zones by a solidified melt, and the solidified melt is a solidified melt of the at least one bonding polymer, wherein the bonding polymer is obtained by polymerization of an olefin having a terminal or a non-terminal double bond. Furthermore a tufted backing is provided comprising pile yarns and the primary carpet backing.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a conjugated fiber suitable for use as a crimped fiber capable of producing an artificial leather having highly dense texture and good quality. The present invention also provides a base body for an artificial leather and an artificial leather produced by using such conjugated fiber. The conjugated fiber of the present invention is a conjugated fiber comprising a readily soluble polyester component and a less readily soluble component, and the readily soluble polyester component comprises a copolymerized polyester having 5 to 10% by mole of 5-sodium sulfoisophthalate copolymerized therewith and the readily soluble polyester component contains a polyalkylene glycol. The polyalkylene glycol is in the form of streaks extending in longitudinal direction of the fiber in the longitudinal cross section of the conjugated fiber.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a nonwoven primary carpet backing comprising thermoplastic polymer filaments or fibres bonded by means of a binder polymer, wherein the backing comprises at least a distinguishable thermoplastic woven layer, a distinguishable thermoplastic continuous layer, or a distinguishable nonwoven layer also comprising filaments or fibres bonded by means of a binder polymer, which layer reduces the delamination strength of the backing, measured in accordance with DIN 54310, by at least 30 % and preferably by at least 50 %, with respect to the same backing without the said distinguishable layer. Although the breaking strength of the untufted backing according to the invention is lower than that of untufted prior art backings, the tufted backing according to the invention actually has a higher breaking strength and elongation than tufted prior art backings.
Abstract:
A ground fabric for use in tufted carpets; and a tufted carpet made using the ground fabric. The ground fabric is constituted of a nonwoven fabric made of long fibers of a polylactic acid polymer. The long fibers have a circular cross section and have a birefringence of 12x10-3 to 30x10-3 and a crystallinity of 15 to 25 wt. %. The long-fiber nonwoven fabric has a thermal shrinkage through 3-minute heating at 120 DEG C of 1 % or lower in each of the MD and the CD. In the case of using long fibers having a different cross-sectional shape, these long fibers have a crystallinity of 15 to 25 wt. % and the nonwoven fabric made of these has a thermal shrinkage through 3-minute heating at 120 DEG C of 1 % or lower in each of the MD and the CD.
Abstract:
A yarn for strands of an artificial turf ground cover (2), including a tape filament (4) having a flat cross-section. One side of the tape filament (4; 54) has a colour and/or tint different from the color and/or tint of the other side. The a tape filament (4; 54) preferably has two layers or a core layer (8; 58) and two outer layers (9; 59) of a different material than the core layer (8; 58) and co-extruded with the core layer (8; 58), each on one of two opposite sides of the core layer (8; 58). An artificial turf ground cover including a substrate sheet and strands fastened to the substrate sheet and projecting upwardly from the substrate sheet, wherein the strands are formed of such a yarn is also described and its appearance makes it particularly suitable as a replacement of natural turf.
Abstract:
A yarn for strands of an artificial turf ground cover, including a tape filament (4) having a core layer (8) and two outer layers (9) of a different material than the core layer (8), each on one of two opposite sides of the core layer. The core layer (8) contains at least polyester or polyolefin material, and the outer layers (9) contain high-density polyethylene. An artificial turf ground cover and a playing field including such a yarn and a method for producing such a yarn are also described. The high-density polyethylene has a relatively small coefficient of friction with the human skin and the yarn has a good shape recovery after deformation in spite of containing HDPE in outer layers.
