Abstract:
A process for producing a steel cord for pneumatic tyres with a bunch of wires, the core of which consists of wire filaments (10) arranged in a bunch parallel and adjacent to one another. There are advantageously at least three wire filaments (10, 20), where at least two wire filaments (10) are spirally wound as filaments (10) forming a core (60) and run parallel and beside each other and at least one wire filament is spirally wound around the two core filaments (10) as the wrapping wire (20). According to the invention, the spiral deformation of the wire filaments (10) is obtained by false twisters (40). This spiral deformation of the wire filaments (10) especially prevents migration of the filaments from the cord composite. It is an advantage if residual torsional stresses between the core filaments and in connection with the restoring forces of the wrapping wire are relieved. The steel cord also advantageously has a flattened, especially oval, shape.

A pneumatic radial tire comprising a belt layer, comprised of steel cords having a lateral flat cross-section, arranged around an outer periphery of a tread portion of a carcass layer so that the diameter direction of the steel cords is made to follow the planar direction of the belt layer, the steel cord is made a flat 1 x 6 twist structure comprised of filaments of a filament diameter d of 0.20 to 0.40 mm, the long diameter DL and twist pitch P of the steel cord taken out from the tire are made with respect to the filament diameter d as follows: and the elongation of the steel cord caused when increasing a load from 0.25 kg to 5.0 kg is made 0.25% or less.
Abstract:
A steel cord (10) comprising steel elements which have been twisted around each other in a first direction and comprising at least one steel element (12) having a wave form, is manufactured in the following economic way :
(i) deforming at least one steel element (12) into a planar wave form ; (ii) twisting the at least one steel element (12) in a second direction and to a predetermined degree ; (iii) twisting the thus deformed and twisted steel elements (12) together with other steel elements (21) in the first direction so that the twisted steel elements are individually subjected to a rotation around their own axes in the first direction.
Abstract:
A steel cord for reinforcing rubber articles comprises one wave-form or helical core steel filament and a plurality of sheath steel filaments disposed around the core steel filament, the pitch Pc of the core steel filament is 3.0 dc/0.34 ≦ Pc ≦ 10.0 dc/0.34 (dc = diameter of steel core filament) and the core forming ratio Rc = Lc/dc (Lc is an amplitude of the wave or helix of the core steel filament) is within a particular range varying depending on the number of sheath steel filaments. The rubber articles containing the steel cord have an improved resistance to corrosion propagation and a high strength. A pneumatic tire is reinforced with the above-mentioned steel cord and contains a cross belt layer where (i) an angle 0 formed by a reinforcing steel cord and the equatorial plane of the tire is : (ii) a gap between adjacent two steel cords in the same layer, I, is : (iii) a gauge of the gum between two facing cords, G, is : The pneumatic tire exhibits suppression of development of crack at the belt end in addition to the advantages as above.

Abstract:
To provide a pneumatic tire wherein the lightweight properties of a tire is secured while improving the plunger energy and BES resistance thereof, which is particularly suitable for tires for a large passenger car or extra load tires. A pneumatic tire comprising a carcass 1 as a skeleton, and at least two belt layers 2a, 2b each formed by rubberizing a plurality of steel cords arranged obliquely with respect to the tire circumferential direction on the outside in the tire radial direction of the crown portion of the carcass is provided. The steel cord is composed of two or more core wires and five to seven sheath wires twisted together around the core wires; the interval between adjacent steel cords in the belt layer is more than 1.0 mm and not more than 1.50 mm; and the gauge of the belt layer is not less than 1.20 mm and not more than 1.60 mm.
Abstract:
A composite hybrid cord comprising a core comprising of a first bundle of synthetic filaments having a filament tenacity of from 10 to 40 grams per decitex and a plurality of cabled strands helically wound around the core, each cabled strand comprising of a plurality of metal strands helically wound around a center second bundle of synthetic filaments that have a filament tenacity of from 10 to 40 grams per decitex. The ratio of the largest cross sectional dimension of the first bundle of synthetic filaments to the largest cross sectional dimension of the second bundle of synthetic filaments is from 1.5:1 to 20:1. The metallic filaments of the cabled strands have an elongation at break that is no more than 24 percent different from the elongation at break of the synthetic filaments of the first and second bundles.
