Abstract:
A paving system for paving or flooring includes a top layer of a plurality of paving elements, and an underlayment support layer of a polymeric material configured into panels. The panels are suitable to support the paving elements, the panels having a generally planar support surface and a recovery characteristic such that a deformation from a concentrated compressive load applied for a short duration returns the support surface to a generally planar condition.
Abstract:
Interlocking building block, paving unit, tile or toy element, one part of which is a piece offering at least one planar locking mechanism, and the other part of which is an element offering at least one spatial locking mechanism. The element is characterized by the piece providing the planar locking mechanism being a three-clawed piece (21) built around an equilateral triangle (1) with protruding arms (22) and grooves (23) corresponding to their circumference arranged in a circular segment (23). The protruding claws (22) are rotated on a plane around a center of rotation (30). These align with the grooves (23) of another three-clawed piece (21) to offer a bayonet type locking mechanism, where the center point of the circular segment (12) is identical to the center of planar rotation (30). The element providing spatial locking is either comprised of at least one hexagonal prism (20) placed next to the three-clawed piece (21) and connected to the corners of the equilateral triangle (1), into which the three-clawed piece (21) is placed so that the protruding claws (22) extend beyond the hexagonal prism (20) to the same extent that the grooves (23) extend into the base area of the hexagonal prism (20), or the element providing for spatial locking built at the circumference of the three-clawed piece (21) consists of protrusions (28) (tapers) ensuring a groove/taper connection and connecting grooves (29), so that each piece contains protrusions (28) (tapers) as well as grooves (29). The invention also includes the procedure of constructing the elements.
Abstract:
An impact absorption panel is adapted for playground use and comprises a panel section and a plurality of projections. The panel section is defined by a top surface and a bottom surface. The plurality of projections extend from the bottom surface of the panel section. The plurality of projections have a first stage and a second stage. The first stage is configured to collapse initially when subjected to an impact load. The second stage is configured to provide greater resistance to the impact load than the first stage. The panel section is configured to provide greater resistance to the impact load than the first and second stages. The first stage can also be distinguished from the second stage by virtue of having a comparatively smaller volume.
Abstract:
An irregularly-shaped building unit includes a front surface, a rear surface opposite of the front surface, and an outer contour surface that extends generally perpendicularly from the front surface to the rear surface. The outer contour surface is irregularly shaped. A plurality of mating sides are disposed on the outer contour surface, where at least two mating sides intersect with a major axis, and at least two mating sides intersect with a minor axis. The major axis and the minor axis are generally perpendicular to each other. Each mating side is a centered rotation about the respective axis that the mating side intersects with.

Abstract:
A playing surface comprising a foam layer (1) having a top surface and a plurality of downwardly extending energy dissipating projections (9) and a fibrous carpet layer (2) overlying the top surface of the foam layer (1). The plurality of the energy dissipating projections (9) are arranged to dissipate energy of an impact through deformation to significantly affect a Critical Fall Height of the playing surface. The invention also comprises methods of manufacturing the playing surface.
Abstract:
A tile for an interlocking rubber mat includes a tile body having an upper surface, a lower surface, and a rectangular peripheral edge. The upper surface is imprinted with a repeating paving stone pattern of a square adjacent an octagon. Each square has four sides of equal length, and each octagon has every second side equal to the sides of the square. A series of projections extend beyond at least one side of the peripheral edge, the space between the projections being adapted to receive the projections of an adjacent tile. Each projection includes a projecting square and a projecting octagon, wherein the projecting square of each projection is adjacent a peripheral octagon of the at least one side of the peripheral edge and the projecting octagon is adjacent a remote side of the projecting square opposite the peripheral octagon. Each peripheral octagon on the at least one side having an associated projection.
Abstract:
Multiple polymeric panels molded as a rigid integral body having a planar top surface and a bottom grid structure are interlocked together mechanically along side edges. Each side edge has alternating upwardly and downwardly facing steps with concave dimples on one and mating convex projections on the other for securely interlocking adjacent panels to each other. The steps of adjacent panels interlock with each other to form a complete floor system. The multiple polymeric panels can be molded to simulate flooring materials such as brick or overlaid with sections of linoleum, carpet, synthetic grass, tile or wood flooring. Alternately, the assembled panels can be covered with a sheet of decorative material.
Abstract:
An artificial turf system having a bottom layer comprised of a plurality of pads constructed from a cross-linked, closed cell, high-density foam, a top layer of synthetic fibers disposed upon the bottom layer to provide a synthetic grass surface, and an infill layer installed upon the top layer wherein the bottom layer functions to provide shock absorbing characteristics to the artificial turf system as well as to evacuate water laterally.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an artificial stone floor element with a basic shape that corresponds to the combination of a plurality of square basic elements, especially to an angular floor element. The floor element includes projections and recesses along its peripheral sides of the basic element when seen from the centre of the respective top face of the basic element is substantially point-symmetric with respect to its mid-point. The floor element in further embodiments includes a profile that consists of three projections and three recesses.
