The controlling device (30) may determine a first resolution as the output resolution in a first case where the selected file format is the first type of file format, and determine a second resolution different from the first resolution as the output resolution in a second case where the selected file format is the second type of file format.
Abstract:
A method, an apparatus and a system for image processing in a network environment such as the Internet is provided. The method includes receiving an image access request sent by a user, forwarding the image access request to a real-time image processor, receiving an image returned by the real-time image processor for the user to use, the image being obtained by the real-time image processor processing the original image according to the image access request. According to the embodiments, users can obtain images of interest in real time, user demand is well met, and user satisfaction is improved.

An image processing apparatus includes a reading speed changing unit to change a reading resolution of a manuscript in a vertical direction by changing a carrier linear speed of the manuscript or a moving speed of a reading carriage; a resolution changing unit to change a resolution in the vertical direction of image data of which reading resolution is changed; and a resolution instruction unit to calculate a threshold of a required resolution of an image to determine instruction contents for the reading speed changing unit and the resolution changing unit, based on a data size drawn from a maximum readout size of the manuscript in a main scanning direction and information to specify a pixel and data transfer capability of a data bus, and to provide a resolution for the reading speed changing unit and the resolution changing unit according to the calculated threshold of the required resolution.

An image processing apparatus receives notification information from an information processing apparatus. The notification information includes specifying information used to specify a reading setting employed when an original is read and identification information. The image processing apparatus obtains identification information input by a user. Then, in a case where the received notification information includes identification information corresponding to the obtained identification information, an information processing apparatus which transmitted the notification information is registered as a display object. Thereafter, the original is read on the basis of the reading setting specified by the image processing apparatus in accordance with the specifying information included in the notification information transmitted from the information processing apparatus selected from among displayed information processing apparatuses.

The invention relates to a communication device (1) adapted to transmit images having a resolution adapted to a desired part of a picture. In an aspect of the present invention, the user can select a part (13, 14) of the image (10) to be transmitted with the message service. Only the selected part is compressed in dependence of maximum limit permitted to be sent. Preferably, the part of the image to be sent is compressed to the smallest possible extent. The present invention also relates to a corresponding transmission method.

A document serving system includes at least one client interaction module and a multifunction peripheral with an integrated server (or document processor & server) for processing, storing, receiving and sending image and data files. The document serving system receives an original image or document file and stores the original file at the integrated server. The document serving system generates an I ndependently U sable I mage (IUI) file that is smaller in size, lower in resolution and includes at least one reference to the original file. The IUI file can be sent to and manipulated by the client devices. The integrated server includes a receipt and storage module, a transmission module, a display interaction module, a creation module and a printer interaction module. The present invention also includes a number of novel methods including: a method for generating an IUI file, a method for processing and storing an original image file, and a method for serving documents.

The present invention relates to a method of visualizing a large still picture on a display having a size smaller than the large still picture, said method comprising the steps of dividing the large still picture into a set of pieces, said pieces having a size substantially equal to the display size; ranking the pieces of the large still picture according to a predetermined scanning order; and encoding the set of pieces using a predictive block-based compression technique according to said predetermined scanning order so as to obtain a video sequence.
