Abstract:
The invention relates to a method and a device for transversally gluing veneer strips (1) in order to produce a butt-glued veneer carpet (2). According to the invention, a first sensor unit (4) and a second sensor unit (7) are provided for aligning a front edge or a back edge (5) of a veneer strip (1) or a veneer carpet (2) by means of several conveyor belts (8 to 11) or (12 to 17) in such a way that said edge is located exactly in a centre line of a heating area (3).
Abstract:
A process and apparatus for making pant-like disposable absorbentgarments (2) with single-piece elastic side panels, and garments (2) so made, are provided. The single-piece side panels (6, 8) eliminate the additional cost associated with multi-part side panels, and improve aesthetic appearance of the garments (2) by eliminating side seams. The process and apparatus accomplish the steps of providing a garments chassis having unfinished lateral edges, folding the chassis so that a front portion overlaps a back portion, and folding and bonding the single-piece side panels so that opposing of the side panels are joined to the lateral edges on the garment chassis.
Abstract:
An electrically conductive filler (10) has a non-conductive (20) core and a conductive layer (22). The conductive layer is wrapped around the core to form a closed loop thereby establishing conductivity from a bottom of the filler to a top of the filler by paths on each of two sides of the filler. Also disclosed is a method of making a web of conductive filler by placing a web of core material onto an interior surface of a web of conductive layer material. The webs of core material and conductive layer material are directed through a forming station for folding the conductive layer around the core.
Abstract:

Abstract:
A centrifugation support for a receptacle (15) where said support comprises a strip (11) formed of a flexible plastics material, said strip (11) having a width corresponding to a substantial portion of the height of the receptacle (15) and a length sufficient to be wrapped around the receptacle (15) with the end portions (13 and 14) overlapping, wherein the overlapping surfaces of the end portions (13 and 14) which abut each other when the strip (11) is wrapped around the receptacle (15) have a blocking characteristic and the remainder of the surface of the strip (11) is substantially tack free.
Abstract:
A personal cleansing implement (34) comprises a substantially rectangular hydrophobic batt (26). The batt (26) is a piece of knitted tubing (10) made from extruded linear low density polyethylene monofilaments knitted into a tube (10) on a knitting machine having a setting ranging from 32 to 64 needles per machine diameter. The monofilaments have substantially circular cross sections in the range of 0.003 inches to 0.015 inches diameter. The piece of knitted tubing (10) also has a longitudinal axis with about 6 to about 9 stitches per inch, as typically measured along its longitudinal axis. Furthermore, the piece of knitted tubing (10) is inverted upon itself at least once along its longitudinal axis to form a plurality of concentric layers of tubing, which are then substantially flattened to form the batt (36). Each of the layers has a similar length and substantially overlaps the other layers. The batt (26) has a top surface (28), a bottom surface (30), and two open ends (22, 24). The top and bottom surfaces (26, 28) are bonded together at the two open ends (22, 24) by a bonding means to maintain the implement (34) substantially flattened. However, the batt (26) retains sufficient loft to function as a personal cleansing implement (34).
Abstract:
A pull strap handle (10) for an automotive interior is fully cushioned by forming a foamed resin cushion (20) that is fit around and over both faces of a strap (15) for the handle. A backing bar (30) is then positioned to extend over cushion (20) and be spaced from strap (15), and a resin cover (25) is wrapped over the cushion and over backing bar (30) so that edges of the cover overlap adjacent the backing bar. Then a dielectric bonding bar (31) presses the overlapping edges of cover (25) against the metal backing bar so that the cover edges are dielectrically bonded together in a seam that preferably has the same surface texture pattern as the rest of the cover material, so as to be inconspicuous. Then backing bar (30) is slid endwise out from under cover (25), to leave the seam (32) spaced from strap (15) by the thickness of cushion (20) which can extend all around and over both faces of the strap. Handle (10) is then completed by forming the strap and providing end anchorages, as is generally known.
Abstract:
An eye patch (10) includes a single layer substrate (12) comprising a sheet of material having a first region (16) and a second region (18). An outer edge (14) extends around the substrate (12) and a slit (22) extends through the substrate (12) so as to form a first flap (28) and a second flap (30). A first adhesive portion (40) is applied to the substrate (12) near the first region (16) such that the first and second flaps (28, 30) each receive part of the first adhesive portion (40). A second adhesive portion (42) is applied to the substrate (12) near the second region (18), and the second adhesive portion (42) is discontinuous with the first adhesive portion (40). The first and second flaps (28, 30) are configured to be placed into an overlapping arrangement and adhered together by the first adhesive portion (40) to give the eye patch (10) a generally cupped shape. The first and second adhesive portions (40, 42) provide two locations for adhering the eye patch (10) to a patient's face.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are sealing solutions for sealing water-soluble films, in particular aqueous mixtures including one or more polymeric solvents such as polyols. Aqueous sealing solutions including a relatively dilute solvent for one or more polymeric components of the water-soluble film (e.g., water-soluble polymeric components thereof, such as polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH)) can exhibit one or more benefits, including a reduction in dissolution of the film by the sealing solution and an increase in seal strength. Also disclosed are sealed articles formed with the sealing solutions, for example water-soluble packets containing various liquid or solid compositions.
Abstract:
A clad duct comprising an outer sheet of thermoplastic material and an inner duct of rigid foam is disclosed. The outer sheet of thermoplastic material is bonded to the inner duct and first and second edges of the outer sheet are sealed. A method for producing clad duct from a laminate is also disclosed. The laminate is a sheet of thermoplastic material bonded to an insulative foam board. V -shaped grooves are formed-in the foam board, opposite the sheet.
