Abstract:
Methods and graphical user interfaces for editing on a portable multifunction device with a touch screen display are disclosed. While displaying an application interface of an application, the device detects a multitouch edit initiation gesture on the touch screen display. In response to detection of the multitouch edit initiation gesture, the device displays a plurality of user-selectable edit option icons in an area of the touch screen display that is independent of a location of the multitouch edit initiation gesture. The device also displays a start point object and an end point object to select content displayed by the application in the application interface.

Abstract:
Deletion gestures for use on a portable multifunction device with a touch-sensitive display are disclosed. In some embodiments, a computer-implemented method for use in conjunction with the portable multifunction device comprises displaying a list of items on the touch- sensitive display, detecting a first gesture on the touch-sensitive display to edit the list of items, responding to the first gesture by displaying a first icon next to each deletable item in the list, detecting a second gesture on the touch-sensitive display to select one of the deletable items, and responding to the second gesture by displaying a second icon next to the selected item. If a third gesture on the second icon is detected, the selected deletable item is deleted. If a fourth gesture on the first icon next to the selected deletable item is detected, the second icon is deleted.
Abstract:
A portable electronic device displays a plurality of icons (e.g., graphical objects) in a region in a touch-sensitive display; detects a predefined user action, with respect to the touch-sensitive display, for initiating a predefined user interface reconfiguration process; and varies positions of one or more icons in the plurality of icons in response to detecting the predefined user action. The varying includes varying the positions of the one or more icons about respective average positions.
Abstract:
A device with a touch-sensitive display may be unlocked via gestures performed on the touch-sensitive display. The device is unlocked if contact with the display corresponds to a predefined gesture for unlocking the device. The device displays one or more unlock images with respect to which the predefined gesture is to be performed in order to unlock the device. The performance of the predefined gesture with respect to the unlock image may include moving the unlock image to a predefined location and/or moving the unlock image along a predefined path. The device may also display visual cues of the predefined gesture on the touch screen to remind a user of the gesture.
Abstract:
A method, comprising: an electronic device with a touch-sensitive display: while the electronic device is in a first input mode in which a respective input mechanism is restricted: displaying, on the touch-sensitive display, a user interface including: a graphical object corresponding to information pertaining to a user; and a graphical indicator corresponding to the first input mode; and detecting a first input; in response to detecting the first input and in accordance with a determination that one or more characteristics of the first input meet a set of predefined criteria: transitioning the electronic device into a second input mode in which the respective input mechanism is not restricted; and displaying the user interface that includes the graphical object corresponding to information pertaining to the user without displaying the graphical indicator corresponding to the first input mode in which the respective input mechanism is restricted; detecting a second input of a first type; and in response to detecting the second input: in accordance with a determination that the electronic device is in the second input mode, performing a respective operation corresponding to the second input; and in accordance with a determination that the electronic device is in the first input mode, forgoing performance of the respective operation.
Abstract:
An electronic device, with a display, a touch-sensitive surface, one or more processors, and memory, displays, on a first user interface screen, an indication of a location. The device displays, on the first user interface screen, a representation of a controllable external device at the location. The device detects a first user input corresponding to selection of the controllable external device, and in response to detecting the first user input, displays a user interface object indicating a plurality of possible states of the controllable external device. While displaying the user interface object indicating the plurality of possible states of the controllable external device, the device detects a second user input corresponding to selection of a designated state of the controllable external device. In response to detecting the second user input, the device sends instructions to set the controllable external device to the designated state.
