    Abstract: PURPOSE:To reduce processing burden on a system controller by storing additional data in a buffer RAM corresponding to sector data. CONSTITUTION:An additional area capable of storing the additional data corresponding to the sector data is set at each area of the buffer RAM 13, and information annexed to the sector data is read out when the sector data is read out, and it is used in every kind of operation management. Thus, a memory controller 12 is provided, and an address counter 34 generates a write address and a readout address based on address designation data, mode information, and the sync data of a sector, and a bicount signal, etc., and outputs them to the buffer RAM 13. An address in the additional area for additional data is calculated corresponding to a sector count value when the sector is written on and read out from the buffer RAM 13, and it is executed by the memory controller 12, thereby, the processing burden on the system controller can be reduced.

CONSTITUTION:A system controller 7 switches the number times of settings of read retry on the basis of data quantity of reproduced data stored in a memory 14 as a reference. When the quantity of the data stored in the memory 14 is reduced, if the number of times of setting of the read retry is reduced, as the data quantity is large, read retry is sufficiently conducted to output correctly reproduced data. If the data quantity is small, it can be so set that reading operation cannot catch up with writing operation of the memory 14. Thus, failure of sound is prevented to reduce generation of abnormal sound.

In such a way, it is possible to obtain the accurate synchronizing signal for sector even when a large flaw, dust, or PLL step-out exists on the recording plane of a medium.

In such a way, the recording in unit of cluster can be easily performed.

CONSTITUTION:The memory means 14 writes the input data inputted successively sequentially, and reads out written an input data at the transfer speed faster than that of the input data. A memory control means 7 reads successively out only the prescribed amount of recording data when the amount of input data stored in the memory means 14 exceeds the prescribed amount, and performs such control to secure write space over the prescribed amount of data on the memory means 14. A recording means 16 records the recording data read out from the memory means 14 to a recording medium, and a recording control means 6 performs the control of a recording position so as to record successively the recording data read out sequentially from the memory means 14 insuccessively on the recording track of the recording medium by the memory control means 7. In such a way, it is possible to record the data successively in spite of the turbulence, etc., of the servo system due to the disturbance.
