Abstract:
The present invention discloses a method of preparing insulation coating. The method comprises: providing a powder of polymer material, a graphite powder, and a substrate, wherein the powder of the polymer material is an epoxy powder or a polyethylene (PE) powder. Next, forming a mixture via mixing the powder of polymer material and the graphite powder. Then, utilizing a thermal spray device to spray the mixture on the substrate and then cooling the substrate to form an insulation coating. The method possesses advantages of increased production efficiency and reduced cost, and provides an insulation coating with good sound insulation properties.
Abstract:
The described embodiments relate generally to methods for forming structures by solid state deposition processes. More specifically a method for depositing cold spray over a removable body is disclosed. Methods are also disclosed for affixing operational and structural components to a surface of a device housing with cold spray.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for coating a substrate. These methods include: (a) vertically orienting the substrate between a vertically oriented backstop and a spray gun; (b) at least partially coating the vertically oriented substrate with a substantially 100% solids, radiation curable liquid coating composition by passing the composition through the spray gun wherein the composition is atomized; whereby a portion of the atomized coating composition deposits on the vertically oriented substrate and a portion of the atomized coating composition deposits on the vertically oriented backstop; (c) exposing the coated substrate to ionizing radiation and/or actinic radiation to cure the coating composition deposited thereon; and (d) removing and reusing at least a portion of the coating composition deposited on the vertically oriented backstop. Related coating systems are also disclosed.
Abstract:
A fabric or belt and a method for forming such a fabric or belt, including a base support structure and at least one coating with the coating being applied by a thermal spray process.
Abstract:
A method of thermoplastic coating composite structures includes heating a tool. A thermoplastic layer is deposited onto the heated tool by thermal spraying a thermoplastic on the heated tool. Composite material is applied onto the thermoplastic layer. The thermoplastic layer and the composite material are then cured.
Abstract:
A method for forming a coating on a substrate using an atmospheric pressure plasma discharge. The method comprises introducing an atomized liquid and/or solid coating-forming material into an atmospheric pressure plasma discharge and/or an ionized gas stream resulting therefrom, and exposing the substrate to the atomized coating-forming material. The application also described a method for polymerizing a polymer forming material, and further to apparatus for forming a coating on a substrate.
Abstract:
Powders of oxidized polyarylene sulfide and powders comprising from 1 to 99% by weight of oxidized polyarylene sulfide and from 1 to 99% by weight of a metal, carbide, ceramic or high temperature polyimide, polyamide imide, polyester imide and aromatic polyester plastic, or a mixture thereof are very suitable for use in thermal spraying and thereby form coatings having a strong chemical and mechanical resistance and high dimensional stability when exposed to high and low temperatures. Such coatings are advantageous for use as abradable seal clearance control coating in the compressor section of gas turbine engines, motor vehicle turbochargers and superchargers, and for use as a coating of reaction vessels, kitchen ware, sealings or bearings.
