Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to vulcanization compositions used to vulcanize elastomeric articles, where the vulcanization compositions have reduced allergenic potential as compared to elastomeric articles formed using vulcanization compositions having non-fugitive accelerators. The present invention also relates to elastomeric articles formed using the vulcanization compositions. The invention further relates to methods for making a reduced-allergenicity vulcanization composition, and to methods for using the vulcanization compositions to vulcanize elastomeric articles.
Abstract:
Halogen-free flame retarded unsaturated polyester (UPE) composites are described, where aluminum methyl methylphosphonate (AMMP) was added to a UPE matrix in order to obtain a UL94-V0 formulation. The combustion properties of AMMP are improved to that of aluminum trihydrates (ATH) in cone calorimetry. The use of AMMP prepared with phosphonium catalyst was also shown to be advantageous for retaining the gelation time of the UPE resins in a mold.
Abstract:
The present invention provides shaped articles comprising one or more composite layer of (i) a vulcanizate encapsulated in a colored or uncolored thermoplastic polymer matrix containing one or more passivating agent, and (ii) a reflective material chosen from colored fluidizable particles of a thermoplastic reflective colorant encapsulated vulcanizate, roofing granules, thermoplastic encapsulated roofing granules, the colored thermoplastic polymer matrix, and combinations thereof. The articles can be laminates of colored or reflective layers on uncolored or other layers, or one or more colored layer having colored fluidizable particles are dispersed within the surface of the uppermost composite layer or having either the colored fluidizable particles or the granules are dispersed on the surface of the composite layer or are adhered thereto with a thermoplastic resin. Roofing shingles are provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a coating composition comprising: a) silanized colloidal silica particles; b) alkyd-containing binder; c) a carrier fluid, wherein the coating composition is essentially free from a cobalt-based drier. The present invention also relates to a method of producing a coating composition and the use of such coating composition for coating of a substrate.
Abstract:
Masterbatch comprising a dimeric and/or trimeric cyclic ketone peroxide dispersed in a polymeric matrix with a porosity, expressed as percentage of voids on the volume of the matrix, of 0.1-80 vol %, wherein said masterbatch comprises, per 100 g of polymeric matrix, 1-30 g dimeric and/or trimeric cyclic ketone peroxide and less than 0.20 g saturated hydrocarbons with 17-51 carbon atoms.

Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a reinforced composition comprising: 55 to 80 wt % of a compatibilized blend of a polyphthalamide and a poly(phenylene ether) wherein said compatibilized blend is formed from a mixture of polyphthalamide and poly(phenylene ether) in a ratio of between 1.5:1 and 7.0:1, and a functionalizing agent in an amount sufficient to effect compatibilization; and 20 to 45 wt % of a nylon glass fiber, wherein the composition contains less than 0.1 wt % of phosphinates and less than 0.1 wt % of impact modifiers and weight percent is based on the total weight of the composition.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to thermoplastic compositions, methods of making thermoplastic compositions, and articles made from thermoplastic compositions. The disclosed compositions comprise a polycarbonate polymer and a triacylglyceride release agent. In an embodiment, a thermoplastic composition comprising: a melt polycarbonate polymer; and 0.01 to 0.05 weight percent of a release agent based on the total weight of the composition, wherein the release agent comprises triacylglyceride, and wherein the composition is free of stearyl stearate, glycerol monostearate, and pentaerythrityl tetrastearate.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to new improved adhesives for binding books and related articles and the production of such adhesives. In particular, the adhesives have reduced content of monomeric diisocyanates or no monomeric diisocyanate content.
Abstract:
A rubber material, in particular for wiper blades of windshield wipers or for automotive tires, is described, containing at least one grade of rubber, at least one filler and processing adjuvants. Of at least one of the grades of rubber present, the rubber material contains a first and a second fraction which differ in viscosity in the unvulcanized state.
