A polymer composition containing a specific silyl group-containing polymer, in which the maximum size of particles contained therein is 2 nullm or less, and the number of particles having a size of 0.2 nullm to 2 nullm is 1,000 particles/ml or less. The composition may further contain a specific compound or at least one component selected from an organosilane represented by (R1)nSi(X)4-n, a hydrolyzate of the organosilane and a condensate of the organosilane. The composition is excellent in storage stability, high in hardness and excellent in mechanical strength such as wear resistance, so that a coating film having good taking-up properties even when no lubricant is contained, extremely smooth and having no difference in film thickness can be formed.

Curable composition comprising a stable, water dispersible, curable polymer containing a sterically hindered alkoxylated silane group at 0.1 to 75 weight percent of the total composition; a water dispersible or water soluble, hydrolytically stable organotin catalyst, at 0.1 to 10 weight percent of the total composition; and water at 99.8 to 24.9 weight percent of the total composition are taught herein. These compositions are useful as adhesives, sealants and paints. The compositions have improved properties including solvent resistance, adhesion, hardness, abrasion resistance and mar resistance. Particular catalysts for use herein include mercaptoalcohol, mercaptide and sulfide forms of diorganotins having either a Sn--S or Sn.dbd.S bond, and include dibutyltin dimercaptide and dibutyltin bis(1-thioglycerol).

A composition suitable for the production of an antifouling coating which comprises: (A) a polymer carrying pendent and/or terminal curable functional groups, at least a major proportion of the repeating units in the polymer (A) being other than siloxane units and (B) a curable organohydrogen polysiloxane or polydiorganosiloxane, the curable functional groups in component (A) being capable of undergoing a condensation curing reaction with component (B). The composition provides antifouling coating having good adhesion and mechanical durability and are used in aquatic or marine environments.
