    Abstract: A water quality sensor includes a housing including a light transmissive bucket mounted in an electrical washing appliance and a light transmissive inner barrel mounted in the bucket, an actuation module mounted in the inner barrel for detecting a water quality of a washing solution in the electrical washing appliance. Thus, if the bucket is cracked during manufacturing or due to a collision, the actuation module can still be well protected by the inner barrel, so that the washing solution in the electrical washing machine does not directly flow into and contact with the actuation module to cause an accidental short circuit of the circuit substrate of the actuation module, improving the water resistance and service life of the water quality sensor.

    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a grain transilluminating device capable of detecting all of the cracks whose orientations are variously different depending on grains without causing a sample dish to be rotated. According to the present invention, there is provided a grain transilluminating device causing light to enter a transparent bottom face of a sample dish obliquely from a downside, the device including: a base member; a rotary member rotatably disposed in the base member and having a light source on one lateral side, and provided with a reflective plate reflecting the light from the light source toward the bottom face of the sample dish; and a cover member attached onto the base member to constitute, along with the base member, an outer frame and having an opening part positioned above the rotary member to receive the sample dish, wherein an operating part for rotating operation on the rotary member is provided in the rotary member and an opening is formed in the outer frame, and the operating part is configured to extend outside from the outer frame through the opening and to be swingable with a center of the rotary member being an axis.

    Abstract: A gas cell assembly and applications of the gas cell assembly in absorption spectroscopy. An example gas cell assembly includes a gas cell body with an inlet for receiving a gas sample from a gas source; a first and a second end portions that allow optical transmission into and out of the body, the second end portion being substantially opposite from the first end portion; and a channel providing a path for the gas sample and optical beam(s) between the first end portion and the second end portion. The gas cell assembly also includes reflective surfaces outside the body to receive versions of the optical beams from the body and to reflect each version of the incident beam towards the body. A detector, then, receives a last reflected beam and transmits a corresponding data signal to a processing unit for analyzing the gas sample based on the data signal.

    Abstract: An optical gas sensing apparatus includes an explosion-rated device electronics enclosure. An explosion-rated sensing enclosure has a light transmitting element to allow light to pass out of and into the sensing enclosure. The sensing enclosure is operably coupled to the explosion-rated device electronics enclosure by a feed-through. In one aspect, an internal volume of the sensing enclosure is less than or equal to about one fiftieth of the volume of the explosion-rated device electronics enclosure. In another aspect, the thickness of the light transmitting element is less than or equal to about 3 millimeters. A light source is disposed within the sensing enclosure and is operably coupled to the device electronics. A detector is disposed within the sensing enclosure and is also operably coupled to the device electronics.
