Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep superior image reading and image forming conditions, by preventing a corruption caused by drop of paper powder onto a reading optical means through oscillation or at removal operation of a manuscript stage during maintenance time.
SOLUTION: At stan-by time of a reading process, which includes a time of non-energization of power in an image scanner 1, an optical source unit 13 as a reading optical means is stopped at a stand-by position P5, which is opposed to a rear face of a first manuscript stand 12 and is not opposed to a position near to an edge of the first manuscript stand 12. The paper powder generated by carriage and the like of the manuscript tends to accumulate in a gap with a manuscript reference member 12a at an edge of the first manuscript stand 12. The paper powder may drop from the edge of the first manuscript stand 12 downward by oscillation or at maintenance, but the optical unit 13 is stopped at a position, which is not opposed to the edge of the first manuscript stand 12, so the optical unit 13 cannot be polluted by the paper powder and the like dropped from the edge of the first manuscript stand 12.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of simply and promptly eliminating the reflection of ambient light. SOLUTION: A photographing system is provided with the digital camera and a supporting stand which can translate the digital camera relative to the surface of a loaded original (object). An object OB2 is photographed with the photographing system, and when the reflection of ambient light L1 from room illumination occurs in an area A32 of a photographed image, the digital camera is translated using the supporting stand and photographing is performed again. Thus, since a position where the reflection of ambient light L1 occurs changes in a photographing range FR1, no reflection of ambient light L1 is generated in an area B32 of a photographed image of the object OB2 corresponding to the area A32 in which the reflection of ambient light L1 occurs. When an image part of the area B32 is replaced with an image part of the area A32 of the reflection of ambient light, an image from which the reflection of ambient light is eliminated is obtained. As the result, the reflection of ambient light is simply and promptly eliminated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader able to more easily correct skew if a reading line deviates in a reading test, thereby eliminating time and effort required for skew correction in an assembly process, and able to reduce manufacturing costs.SOLUTION: A carriage 21 comprises: a slide block 23 guided by a guide rail 22; and a carriage body 24 fixed to the slide block 23. The slide block 23 is fitted to the guide rail 22 in a standard position or adjustment position. While the slide block 23 is in the standard position, the carriage body 24 is positioned to the slide block 23. By rotating the carriage body 24 around a support pin 61 relative to the slide block 23 while the slide block 23 is in the adjustment position, the right angle of the carriage body 24 to the guide rail 22 can be adjusted.
