Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for adjusting capacity in a networking environment. A networking system comprising clients, servers, load balancers, and/or other devices may expand and contract network capacity as needed. When expanding network capacity, load balancers may instruct client devices to connect to servers that are part of the expanded network. When network capacity is reduced, a server and/or a load balancer my instruct client devices to close a connection with a first server and establish a connection with a second server. Client devices may seamlessly begin using the connection with a second server without having to wait for a connection timeout with the first server.

Abstract: An acquisition unit acquires a state of a server including pieces of virtual CPE, and an instructing unit instructs CPE connected to the virtual CPE to control a communication band based on the state of the server. The instructing unit instructs the CPE to limit a communication band to a predetermined value or less based on a CPU usage rate acquired by the acquisition unit exceeding a predetermined threshold value. The instructing unit instructs the CPE to limit a communication band to a predetermined value or less in based on the number of connections of the CPE acquired by the acquisition unit being less than a predetermined threshold value. The acquisition unit acquires presence or absence of CPE not connected to the virtual CPE, and the instructing unit instructs the CPE to block communication based on the presence of CPE not connected to the virtual CPE.

Abstract: A system for adjusting individual host rate limits based on a fleet-wide service rate limit and a fleet host count. The system includes a fleet of hosts for a service. Individual hosts of the fleet of hosts respectively include application logic, a host rate limiter to limit interactions between the application logic and another service according to a host rate limit for the individual host, and an adaptive rate component. The adaptive rate component updates a host entry in a host table to indicate a current heartbeat timestamp for the individual host. The adaptive rate component retrieves the fleet-wide service rate value and the fleet host count value. The adaptive rate component determines the host rate limit for the individual host based on the fleet-wide service rate value and the fleet host count value. The adaptive rate component provides the host rate limit to the host rate limiter.
