Abstract:
A golf club with improved performance over a larger percentage of the strike face, including the lower extremities of the face, is disclosed and claimed. The club head has a coefficient of restitution that approaches substantial uniformity across the face. The golf club head includes a body having a face, a sole, a transition zone between the face and the sole. The transition zone has an internal surface and an external surface. Both the internal and external surfaces have radii of curvature greater than 0.2 inch. The transition zone transitions smoothly from the face, through the transition zone, to the sole. An extension may be provided adjacent the transition zone, cooperating with the transition zone to form a chamber. Dampening and/or weight inserts may be positioned within the chamber.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club with interchangeability between the shaft and the club head which club includes a connection part capable of securely assembling those and being easily manufactured. SOLUTION: The golf club incorporating an interchangeable shaft system 10 includes a shaft 12, a shaft sleeve 14, a club head 16, and a fastener. The shaft sleeve 14 is coupled to an end 28 of the shaft 12 and is received in a hosel 20 included in the club head 16. The fastener retains the shaft sleeve 14 in the hosel 20. Hosel 20 side and shaft sleeve 14 side alignment features are provided that provide discreet orientations between the shaft 12 and the club head 16. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball excellent in minute adjustment of a golf ball spin rate and compressive/resilient properties. SOLUTION: The golf ball comprises a multilayer core and a cover. The multilayer core comprises a small hard center surrounded by a soft middle core layer, and an outer core layer. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club which has improved disposition of a center of gravity and increased moment of inertia and sweet spot size while providing aesthetics thereof. SOLUTION: The hollow iron type golf club 10 includes a main body 12 including a support part 14 and a muscle back shell 16. The support part 14 and a partial sole 18 of the club head main body 12 have dimensions and shapes allowing them to be flush with the muscle back shell 16. The club head main body 12 is preferably made of a material with density lower than that of the muscle back shell 16 and the moment of inertia and the sweet spot size are increased as a result, so that a golfer has an enlarged chances of effectively hitting a ball. A material suitable of the club head main body 12 includes aluminum, stainless steel, or titanium and its alloys. A material suitable for the muscle back shell 16 is lead, tungsten, gold, or silver. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf shoe which realizes excellent flexibility, traction and balance for lawns to golfers. SOLUTION: This golf shoe comprises an outsole having forward and rear base sections that are connected and molded together with an arch support shank. The base sections are relatively soft and made from thermoplastic polyurethane having a maximum Shore A hardness of between 75 to 85. The shank is also made of thermoplastic polyurethane having a minimum hardness of at least 95 Shore A hardness. Each base section has a plurality of openings, wherein a plurality of corresponding relatively hard pods are molded, each pod of a size and configuration to fit within a corresponding opening and extend at least 6.3 mm from the bottom surfaces of the base sections. The shoe provides flexibility both across the metatarsal area and longitudinally at approximately the metatarsal area, thereby providing the golfer with improved flexibility, traction and balance. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-layer golf ball having an optimum spin characteristic. SOLUTION: The multi-layer golf ball 10 having a relatively hard outer core 13 surrounding a relatively soft inner core 11 having a low compression are provided. The inner core generally has a compression of less than 50, and the inner core and the outer core generally have a combined dual core compression of 50 or greater. The outer core generally has a Shore C hardness of 80 or greater. A cover 15, which may be a single-, dual-, or multi-layer cover, is provided to surround the outer core. A moisture barrier layer 14 is optionally provided between the outer core and the cover. The moisture vapor transmission rate of the moisture barrier layer is preferably less than the moisture vapor transmission rate of the cover. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball which includes a layer formed from a relatively soft HNP composition and a layer formed from a relatively hard HNP composition. SOLUTION: The golf balls have at least three layers, including an inner core layer, an outer core layer, and optionally an intermediate core layer. The present invention is not limited by which golf ball layers are formed from an HNP composition, so long as at least one layer is formed from a relatively soft HNP composition and at least one layer is formed from a relatively hard HNP composition. Relatively soft HNP compositions comprise a highly neutralized acid copolymer preferably having a modulus in the range from 1,000 psi to 50,000 psi. Relatively hard HNP compositions comprise a highly neutralized acid copolymer preferably having a modulus in the range from 25,000 psi to 150,000 psi. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
