Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple mechanism which supplies an inflator gas to an air bag at a wide range level. SOLUTION: The air bag module (10) is equipped with an air bag (27) and an inflator (30) which delivers an inflator gas for expanding the air bag. The inflator has at least one delivery port (31) from which the gas is delivered. A housing (20) is equipped with an exhaust opening (21) which is aligned with the delivery port and other delivery opening (24) which is not aligned with the delivery port. The variable expansion device (49) is installed in the inflator and movable toward the exhaust opening such that the exhaust opening is opened or closed at a predetermined time during the operation of the inflator for controlling the amount of the inflator gas to be discharged into the air bag and the amount of the inflator gas which is discharged through the exhaust opening of the housing. The variable expansion device is equipped with a motor device (80) for conveying movable member toward the exhaust opening. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further reduce toque ripple components in a brushless motor having a stator with slots. SOLUTION: A permanent magnet constitution part, which is used in the brusless electric motor (36) is disclosed. The magnet constitution is equipped with a parallelogram-shaped body (72), which has an arch-shaped outside surface (74) and an arch-shaped inside surface (76). In preferred embodiment, both the outside surface and the inside surface are almost mutually concentric. The body is preferably constituted of a neodymium-iron-boron material and is covered with epoxy resin. In another embodiment, the body is coated through nickel plating. In a yet another embodiment, the body is coated with aluminum depositing.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable, of which the corrosion resistance, in relation to cable strands and/or an electric terminal, is improved and having aluminum as a base material, and further to provide a method for sealing the cable including gaps between the cable strands.SOLUTION: A cable 10 includes a plurality of cable strands 12, an insulator 14 disposed on a portion of the plurality of cable strands 12 such that the plurality of cable strands 12 are at least partially exposed, and a sealant disposed between gaps 16 of the plurality of cable strands 12 and at least partially under the insulator 14. Moreover, a method includes stripping the insulator 14 from an end of the cable to expose a plurality of cable strands 12, and applying a sealant to the cable strands 12 such that the sealant is drawn under the insulator 14 and fills in gaps 16 between the cable strands 12 by capillary action.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide diagnostic information relating to a particulate substance control system using micro particle substance accumulation information of a particulate substance sensor.SOLUTION: A particulate substance detection method includes the steps of measuring impedance between electrodes 42 and compensating for the impedance with respect to a temperature at which the impedance has been determined, determining an estimate of a total amount of accumulated particulate substances, and limiting effects of coarse particles caught on a sensor or blown off from the sensor. Information obtained by the method provides diagnostic information relating to a particulate substance control system.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable and robust vehicular electrical charging system that enables repeatable electrical charging of a battery in a short amount of time and provides user convenience and safety for the human operator of the electrical charging system.SOLUTION: An energy coupling arrangement includes a first transducer disposed external to a vehicle and a second transducer attached with the vehicle. Alignment means communicates with the vehicle to ensure repeatable vehicle positioning so that the second transducer is positioned relative to the first transducer so that the second transducer receives the energy produced by the power transmitter wirelessly transmitted from the first transducer. The energy received by the second transducer is electrically shaped by an electrical signal shaping device (ESSD) and further electrically transmitted through the ESSD as controlled by a controller to electrically charge an energy storage device (ESD).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic method and system for diagnosing an operating condition of a conductive particulate matter sensor.SOLUTION: A sensor has a substrate with electrical resistance that varies with temperature and two electrodes on the substrate adapted to collect particulate matter between the electrodes, thereby establishing an electrically conductive path through collected particulate matter between the electrodes. The electrically conductive path can be detected by measuring electrical resistance between the electrodes, R. The diagnosis is performed by heating the substrate in the area between the electrodes and using the resistance between the electrodes to determine detecting whether contamination is present on the surface of the sensor. Heat may be maintained on the sensor to attempt to burn off a detected contaminant, and a subsequent resistance reading may be used to determine if the contaminant was successfully burned off.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive RF connector in which larger manufacturing tolerance of a terminal and a connector housing is allowable. SOLUTION: The RF connector assembly 10 has a first connector housing 18 having a first end portion which is constituted in a structure to connectably accept a terminal end portion for a first coaxial cable, and a second connector housing 14 having a first end portion which is constituted in a structure to connectably accept a complementary terminal end portion for a second coaxial cable. The first connector housing accepts tubular shields which are mounted on the circumference of respective end portions and connected to the end portions. The tubular shields have sets of touch fingers having elasticity and are protruded inward to radial directions to be electrically connected to the circumference of the complementary terminal end portions when the second connector housing is connected to the first connector housing. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connection part with improved corrosion-resistance between a cable and a terminal to be connected to this. SOLUTION: This is a method of forming a seal at the surrounding of a conductive core 14 of a cable 10 having an insulating outer cover 12 and a terminal 22, and the method comprises a process to provide a lead wire 16 of the core extending over an edge part 43 in an axial direction of the insulating outer cover, a process of applying a conformable coating 20 on the lead wire, a process in which, when the conformable coating is still in wet condition, the terminal is crimped to the cable, and the conformable coating is displaced from between the lead wire and the contact face of the terminal, and the remaining portion of the lead wire not in direct contact with the terminal is covered and sealed with the conformable coating, and a process in which the conformable coating is hardened on the remaining portion of the lead wire.
